Frameset Cost Calculation

How does one determine the cost of a frameset? I've been offered a carbon frame from 2012 it's practically brand new. I don't think it has been ridden. How do I workout if it's a good price or not? I don't think you can usually buy the frameset, so I haven't found a price online. Do I workout the build cost and compare that to a new version of the bike? Is there another way to calculate it?

Ok, it's a Focus Izalco Donna 2.0 xs for R11500. Fork, seatpost and bb cup (so I can put my current crankset and bb in the oversized bb - not sure what the technical terms are). The dude I'm buying it from is awesome... I just want to cross my t's and dot my i's. It's immaculate. The only mark I can find on it, is where the skewers have made contact with the dropouts.

I just went thru a similar exercise, also with a Focus. Check out 2015 prices on complete bikes and compare it to what youre thinking of building.

Id say it should be atleast 30% cheaper doing your own build to justify doing it.

I saved about 35% on my build

Good luck!!!

Thanks. I'm busy pricing the original parts. Getting excited. My build is going to be a slight upgrade...
