SwissVan Posted March 8, 2016 Share excatly - its not difficult I promise.......the 6 months before are the difficult bit...and the harder those 6 months were the easier the 89km is I did enter and train for comrades once, over training cured my ambitionsFound the training easier than that for triathlon. Only thing that stops me are my feet...they don't handle long distance running well. Will see how my new swiss made orthotics work....maybe they work well enough then I'll be there...promise
dracs Posted March 9, 2016 Share So having established earlier that Comrades can be done on 600k's training, can someone help me with a more immediate problem: Can 2Oceans be done on a wing and a prayer? I am nursing a calf strain and on physio instruction I haven't run in a week and a half now... hope to do an easy trot tomorrow to test it out, but things not exactly going to plan.... Vinnydabutcher Posted March 9, 2016 Share The noose is starting to tighten!!!! Sh#@t just got real! Everyone is planning, doubting, rationalizing ect - love it. Anyone in for Om die Dam on Sat? Should be interesting to see how the legs cope after last week. 2 weeks for OMTO. Another month or so for Loskop. And then a trot to the beach! Anyway we can arrange a Fredo`s stand at the finish??? Stretch Posted March 10, 2016 Share I dont get running.....mtb events you can online till the wednesday and then enter on the day...only the real popular events have entry limits. Wanted to run a 20 miler this weekend and its closed (on the 6th...all online entries). Its not a massive event. What about the large proportion of people wanting to participate that dont have access to online facilities. You can substitute but it costs R50 and you need a letter from the person you are substituting...what a lot of rubbish...so its solo 30km run on Saturday morning for me and my money spent elsewhere...bloody annoying

SwissVan Posted March 10, 2016 Share agreed...except thats 95% of my training....sometimes its lekker to chat to some mates!Yip... My wife has exactly the same issue, no one here to run her long runs with...and far fewer events on the calendar to enter, last time in 2014 she ran a 50k on her own and this year maybe a 42 and 50... Obvisouly I second her part of the way but mostly she runs on her own. After her long solo runs in 2014 she said it was wonderful to run in a crowd again... Even if they are strangers

And the prices, no comparable for the large part 30 solo is tough though, I'm going to be heading to my cradle loop shortly - should be safer post Argust

I'll run alone happily to the magic 28km mark (where everything goes tits up), then I need company or a distraction
