I guess I can tell everybody over the next few days how good Momentum is since some jackass took me out on the road bike this afternoon.

(Fortunately no serious damage to me, but my bike took some damage, fork snapped on both sides, wheel probably needs to be replaced, and I am sure some other damage that isn't visible...)

Damn glad you're ok.

I insured my cars with King Price insurance today and they charged me R1 to insure my bike, no jokes R1 cover with R500 excess. you can insure 1 bike per car. I have 2 cars and insured 2 bikes for R2.

Thanks for the well wishes.

I'm cool, just some cuts and bruises and obviously the aches that now come with that, nothing to write home about.

My non-cycling friends think I am insane that I took my bike to the bike shop before I went to the doctor...haha

But this is normal practice?

Thanks Lurch. I'm also insured with Momentum, bikes are All Risk. I would like to know if Momentum treated you GOOD.

So far things have been quite smooth, but this was the easy bit, just telling them it happened and the visible damage (for example, the fork is was carbon so it splintered)

Gave them the SAPS AR (accident report) number and sent them the pictures.

They're actually waiting on me right now.

I need to send them the damage report and quote which the bike shop is still busy with because they are stripping it to check damage to the frame and so on.

Once I have that then we will actually get to see how easy or difficult it is to get sorted.

Excess is at least a fixed amount.

Outsurance

All breakage and theft.

Bike insured for R19440, premium of R88, excess of R650.

Although I've never specifically claimed for bikes from Outsurance they have been 'no-fuss' with my other household claims.

If you tell them you weren't at fault. .do they go after the driver of the car or do they just pay out? Do you have to prove innocence?

Well, from what has been said so far they are not expecting me to prove innocence but time will tell I suppose.

The retard who hit me wouldn't give me his details, but I have his registration number as well as make and model of vehicle, and it is branded with a security company's details so I have the name and contact number (the company is some two bit operation nobody has ever heard of) so if they really want to go after him they can do so.

Well, I am VERY impressed with Momentum.

Turns out there was more damage than was at first visible so the bike is a write off.

I sent the woman I am dealing with the damage report and the quote at around 13:45 and she called me a few minutes ago saying they're paying me out in full and it should reflect in my account within 48 hours.
