I've never really tried a Polar or TomTom but I've been told that the polar especially the V800 model(could be wrong on the model number) is good. Any opinions on those brands? The only reason that I got myself a 920xt is only really because of the Garmin backing

Using a TomTom multisport cardio. Great for treadmill and cycling outtdoors. Quick GPS fixing, not to shabby battery, comfortable ane easy to use. The app is ok but can seamlessly sync data into strava with wifi/mobile connection. Next generation is about to come out and allows music storage on the watch to stream to headphones.

I'm sure, these new features sound great but I have a sneaky feeling its gonna compromise battery life just like the evolution of the cellphone was.

Thanx for the feedback though.

Its handy to be able to sync workouts through your cell via bluetooth but I always end up doing it through the pc.

I recon the music integration is a very clever function but like you say its going to kill that battery.

The Takealot deal is excellent ..u wont get a better deal on a new watch.

I have the exact same bundle and it was 4500 when I got it. Works well. Recently bought a cardio unit as well. The TomTom watches are great for the price.

The only negative is when linked to GPS and heart rate you only going to get around 8 hours on a full charge and just GPS around 10 to 11 hours. In my case this means I cant record a full ironman cos I am fat an slow.

Other than that , brilliant and at 2499 u cant go wrong

The Garmin Vivoactive is also pretty great. A friend just picked one up in the duty-free shop at JHB airport for R2500.

So if you have a friend/family member heading overseas soon, that's a solid bet.

Use one myself, pretty nice piece of kit, great syncing with Strava / Vitality etc

Ya, I might not be fat, but I'm damn sure I don't have the ability to do anything for 8 hours :whistling:  :whistling:  :whistling: , that requires me wearing the watch  .
I jumped and bought it, this time no drama with disco miles so it cost me about R800  . Just hope the cadence sensor on the bike bit isn't as useless as my previous Velo 5 CatEye.

There were some software concerns with it when the units first came out but seems to be fine now.

Value for money though nothing will beat it.
