What's the point of the PPA number I need to go pick up for One Tonner? Don't see the point, didn't have a number last year and was able to ride CTCT.

And when I get reseeded (positive thinking) I need to pay a R50 admin fee to get my number changed??

If you want to ride in the seeded groups you will need your PPA number.

I was seeded at CTCT last year and wasn't a PPA member. Are the smaller races like One Tonner run differently?

Races like the One Tonner, Medallion (of old), this weekend's race, are raced with PPA numbers and seeding.  Its only larger races like the August and Burger (see what I did there) that issue you a different race number based on their group allocations.

Every year with the PPA your group seeding changes depending on your results in the year, and they are only valid for 1 year. (You cant race in a PPA even with last year's number).  So every year you are issues with a new PPA number and seeding for PPA races (except the big ones).

Hope that makes sense.

To add: You only have to pay R50 extra if you want an extra re-seeding during the season. If you improve hugely and feel you should be allowed ro ride with an earlier group, you can ask them to re seed you. You then pay for their troubles and for a new number. Fair enough I think.

If you dont want to start at the back, you pick up your number and start with people of similar ability.

Its the easiest way to do it at the lowest cost for the smaller fun rides during the year.

your ppa number is your racing license (i mean fun ride license), if you dont have one , then you must buy a temp number for the race (i mean fun ride) which is similar to a day license.
