Ultra large clothing???!

Hey hey fellow cycoholics.....

So as I'm sure I'm not the only larger framed guy on the forum, I thought I'd ask where you buy you riding gear from? I'm specifically looking for shorts and shirts? I bought a XXXXL muddy fox cycle shirt in the UK recently, which just about fits, and also some XXXXL shorts which are perfect, but I could do with more.

Is there anywhere in RSA that I can get these sizes (or maybe even 5XL) from? Everywhere I try seems to not go any bigger than 2XL!

Many regards

G!

Fark, I can probably fit my legs with room to spare in the sleeves of your shirts!

Good luck with your search, I can understand what a mission it must be, few manufacturers cater much for people too far from the average body size either up or down in size. If that Fox gear works then maybe stick with it, order it online, just have to take the 45% import duties on the chin.

Dude your 1st line im sure you typed without thinking too much but it is actually quite offensive to say the least.

Even for me its difficult to find 3xl baggies wich equates to a 40. Xxl =38 and aint that big to begin with. Not all of us has the luxury of being small or thin but we still enjoy the sport. Absolutely no need to make us bigger folk feel embarrassed.

Speak to hubber Andrew Steer - he will be able to sort you out - 99.9% sure he will be able to - even if he has to custom make kit for you.

Well aren't you just full of encouragement! Real positive contribution right there.

To the OP, keep riding the kit you have for now bud! Eventually you won't need it, and will have more options. The important thing is to just keep riding no matter what. Big ups for trying to do something!

I've got an idea there's a Fox clothing store at Canal Walk. Maybe they can help

My apologies, I didn't read anything into the op's post other than he's a big framed guy looking for bigger sizes. I tried on one of the Springbok player's team jerseys and it was a similar situation, my legs fit in the sleeves quite easily, which I found rather amazing.

No offence taken on my part Skylark.... I know what you meant! I often pick my undies up and think 'Bloody Norah.... You could go kite surfing with these!' ;)

The problem is not so much fitting my legs in..... Its other utensils that are the issue! ;)

Just to ask the question, are Fox and Muddy Fox the same company? I know Silver Fox were the budget company of Muddy Fox many moons ago, but Muddy Fox itself seems to have all but disappeared, and I thought Fox were more motocross etc?

Not the same brand. There is a Fox store in Canal Walk, and they are slowly expanding their MTB range. That said, I've only seen sizes up to XXL shirts (if you're lucky) and shorts to size 40. The fit is a bit on the small side as well, I'm a 38 but feel more comfy in their size 40 shorts. Good quality stuff.

For bigger sizes I would most certainly recommend the Anatomic Factory Shop in Northgate Estate off the N1 near Paarden Island/Ysterplaats. Ask for Manie. Their online shop is www.weardirect.co.za.

Shorts/bibs up to size XXL (generous) and shirts to 5XL.

Hope you get sorted out, I share your frustration!

Not being the smallest fellow out there (and although on the way down, i got pretty big) I know the story.

I was dumfounded when Ali @Cyclelab told me that most of her orders for the men are XL and 2XL. I found that the Anatomic 2 XL shirts worked okay and they have 3XL as well. Shorts - are you looking for bib or MTB? I find an XL Pearl Izumi bib fits me and you can go to 2XL but they are pretty big.

There are some shops that just stock the big stuff and you get lucky. Italian sizes are just crazy. 4 XL that wouldn't fit a 36 waisted guy in SA, so there is no consistency.

I have hit some specials as most guys in the 4XL sizes aren't riding so they can't sell the stuff. And over the years they mark it down. Just carry on shopping - CYclelab had some on their sales.

Otherwise I just import but its a pretty expensive exercise.

Old Mountain Goat, we certainly can help... our standard tops go to 5XL (check here http://www.weardirect.co.za/) and we can even custom make to larger sizes if required - we're a South African company, and we size our cycling clothing for us South Africans.

Chat with Manie at the factory shop - he'll be sure to help you out!

Cape Town Factory Outlet: Unit 1, Highway Park, Northgate Estate, Ysterplaat/Paardeneiland, Open: Mon-Fri: 09:00 - 17:00, Sat: 09:00 - 13:00, shop.CT@anatomic.co.za, 021 510 8400

Give me a shout if you don't come right!

So I am liking the sizing for your clothes Andrew.... According to your sizes, I am a Large/XL when it comes to cycle shorts! That's a feeling I haven't had in a long time, though it could be wind? ;)

G!
