2016 Giro d'Italia

The official route of the 2016 Giro d’Italia will only be presented on Monday October 5, but race director Mauro Vegni has confirmed it will include 3 x individual time trials (no TTT next year).

The first TT will be 11 km long in Holland.

The second will be a 40 km TT through the vineyards of Chianti, with a very interesting slightly downhill course profile.

The third will be an uphill mountain TT of around 20 km.

So, what are the odds that we'll be seeing Big Tom on the start line for the Giro. And maybe even the Froome Dawg...?

Ja, that's what I'm thinking.

And with all his main rivals going after the TDF, the way might be opened even more for a shot at the Maglia Rosa.

I'm sure he will start looking at having a more complete palmares with wins in all the grand tours. Having a proper go at the Giro and Vuelta in one year is very doable.

Three rest days   After stage 3, 9 & 15

A rest day feels like a year when you can't wait to see what happens next.

And in the Giro so much can, and usually happens
