Check it out like you would any second hand bike, rattles, smoothness etc. The Brain shock, make sure it is working properly, ask the owner when last was it serviced

Cool thanks man, so Specialized never had any problems with the frames? I just want to make sure, as I'm a student and don't have the finances to replace a frame that will crack 6 months into ownership without any warranty

try get the original proof of purchase otherwise specialized wont be interested in the event of a claim. if you have the slip they very good and standing by there frames,

check breaks the bike comes with and be cautious if sram xx world cup or sram Xo if they feel soft and spongy try stay away as it can be a challange and expensive to get them fixed

Thanks for you guys and your advice! I appreciate it! I have owned a BMC with Avid Elixirs... I know of the squidgy brake problems luckily!

Luckily that won't be a problem... Replacing Maguras with SLX... My friends warned me about Maguras. Only thing they do good is make clutch master cylinders for BMW motorbikes!

I made this investment a year ago, also 2013 model, What a royal treat from my hardtail. I had to service rear shock, there was a few dings in the rear wheel rim, but hold pressure fine. The components all good but drive side needed replacing, I took all into consideration, and made an offer based on that. The Frame is fantastic, there are the bearings in the frame that I believe are very inexpensive to replace.

Also very happy with my MTS brakes

Loving my new ride

Spez frames are very good....Ive settled on them for MTB and never had a break or crack, although I hear the s-works ones are a little more prone to cracks given that they're thinner
