Think I got a third in the 30-34 category ... pity about the two other guys getting away with 10k to go! I gambled on my sprint and was hoping we could real them back in... wrong gamble!

Can someone explain to me as I asked Fatty last night but he couldnt answer:

In Gauteng why are there so many different titles? IE: CGC, Eastern Gauteng etc? Would it not make more sense to hae a Gauteng champ or how does it work? Sorry for a stupid post so be easy on the answer please.

Also then who won Elite?

Ok so no one knows why they split the Gauteng champs then??

Dunno Colonel. All I know is that even in the old Transvaal, they used to split it up. I remember a story about someone who started the Southern Tvl champs, broke away, got lost and "won" Northern Tvl champs....

Agree with Bob, used to be Northern Transvaal and Transvaal. Structures stayed the same, just the names changed. Same reason there are Lions and Bulls rugby teams.

Must be something to do with number of cyclist/m2??

Has been like that since the early 90's.

Same question would be.....why Lions AND Bulls?  Both in Guateng?

Is there some SENSIBLE reason why they don't want to make it the GAUTENG Champs as some categories e.g. elite ladies were only 5 in CGC - one team (Toyota - Cyclelab) against the 'others' AND in Pretoria (7 started) it looked like MTN against 'others' - impossible to compete against a team in most cases... and not worthy of a race!!

the 3 Pta/Jhb provinces are Central Gauteng, Northern Gauteng and Southern Gauteng each with their own champs. i heard that the elites/pros don't ride because there is no prize money. why don't they do like WP/Boland and have a WP Open Champs iow have an Open Gauteng champs, thye might even attract cyclists from neighbouring provinces.

Dr Suess - that's not a bad pose to have! Wish I had the power to match!

I tell you, it takes some strain to chase the two red devils, especially when not everybody in the bunch is keen to get them. I must say your teammates put in a very good effort on the second lap!
