The worst for me is wankers riding on the national road.

After saturdays mountain bike race on my way back on the n1 some douchebag is riding on the N1 on his own past Kraaifontein.

On sunday coming home from my ride in Camps Bay, there was a whole group of cyclists on the N1 all kitted out. Just because you're riding as a team, its still illegal to ride on the N1. The worst thing is I rode with those same guys down Suikerbossie into Camps Bay and then into Greenpoint. I cant remember the name of team but their kit looked similar to the Trek Factory racing kit. It was clearly styled on that.

And then if that's not enough, yesterday while in the UCT Lung Institute building, I saw two wankers riding down hospital bend on their own. What the actual ****? its douches like these that give cyclists a bad reputation.

This.

Now wonder some motorists want to run us off the road.

Like this f****** taxi driver who thinks he owns the road and hoots and scrapes past me at a 4-way robot junction, while I'm literally 10cm from the kerb.

It feels like motorists and cyclists alike are becoming more polarised in their animosity towards each other.

Will this ever get better?

So doing my first full length CTCT and my buddies got money against me not finishing :D :D

Start 8h48..eish. Didn't do too much endurance rides. did 50km last week...hmmm

Simple, when using the road, obey the rules of the road.

If a robot is red and the pedestrian light is green, get off bike and walk across then get on and ride again, this gives motorists no reason then to be upset.

Don't ride on Freeways / national roads or where marked no cycling.

Respect each other, greet each other, share the road with cars, give them way if needs be, they are a lot harder than flesh!

As for CTCT training, had a lekker chilled ride over Constantia Nek, Suikerbossie, Seapoint to town and then back over Kloof nek, Suikerbossie from Campsbay side and over Constantia nek towards Southern Suburbs.

Today lekker chilled ride into work via liesbeek etc on Trusty Steel frame commuter.

Take it easy, not going to get any fitter now and more risk of injury or catching a cold if you push to hard.

For those how are planning (like me) to do the second lap

Will you be going back to your car before the second start for something to eat / drink / fresh up a bit – (I usually park at the waterfront)

Or will you have somebody waiting for you at the finish with a cooler bag and something to eat / drink

Or just go straight through the finish , to the start and hope there will be something left at the water points

Don’t want to pack my back like a donkey on the first lap

Rider must be back at the start 9h50 for the second lap – I will start 6h25 and ride 3 hours plus minus if all goes according to plan thus 9h30…wonder if 20min will be enough time to go back to my car (parked at the waterfront ) and to be in time again to start 9h50…eish

How much money? Tell them to raise the stakes by R50 and you and I meet for a post race beer. You'll smoke this race like it wasn't even there. Such a vibe from where you are starting, you'll pray for it not to finish. Enjoy, mate.

aaa... just saw on Ractec I will start 6h19 - so if I managed 3 hours (more or less), I will have half an hour before 9h50

$ start at 6h15...how difficult can it be to close a 4min time gap... ....lol

Last year I had it all planned. My wife waiting with new bottles etc. near the start. This year I am on my own. Also (realistically) I have to plan on 3:15 to leave margins. That means I will finish with 10min to get to the start again. I will be very dehydrated by the time I get to the first table. It will be my first ever stop at a watertable at the Argus (or any other roadrace). I REALLY hope they arent cleaned out or packed-up by then. I will be guzzling fluids like a V12 by then....

Seeing as it will be my first attempt at a 2 lap CTCT my plan is to do lap 1 as fast as possible and then hit the first water point on the 2nd lap (assuming I make it).

I'm sure there would be more than enough fluids, problem is stuff to eat - 2 years ago the first waterpoint with something to eat was in Simonstown which had Marie biscuits, only on the top of Smits I found something proper to munch on.

This year I will leave a few snacks in my car to get me through the first 1/3rd of the

2nd lap.
