Friday afternoon traffic is ALWAYS chaos in Cape Town, for those out of towners who think we do this especially just to annoy them. We don't, it's just that if more than two Capies get together, we forget how to drive and we cause a traffic jam. I don't know why, it must be something in the sea air.

So I am coming through to town, Bike rack has two spots open.

Leaving from Thorp Main Road in plumstead. Starting 06:50 and we need to be in chute apparently 45 minutes before. Will make my way through around 05:45 to town to account for Traffic / Road closures.

Please PM me if you would like a lift. I will be parking by work office across from Pepper Club Hotel on Loop street.

I like the new setup! Certainly feels like the CTCT is coming of age since moving away from Good Hope Centre! Did the walkby lunchtime today and there certainly was more vibe! It's crazeee lekka to see so many like minded people in one place ready to have a styling time and getting into the 'gees'!!!!

Three words: f*ck the expo.

Actually, just the fact that you have to walk through the entire bloody thing just to exit. They seriously need a "collect & go" option.

Ridiculous.

As for the parking (or lack thereof), I see no reasons how this is better than the Good Hope Centre (as *** as that is).

Anyway, have a good ride on Sunday! I can't wait.

Right after the number collection is an exit to the right under a Momentum finish line thing....

Skips the WHOLE EXPO!

Not sure how everyone is expecting to park at the stadium when the finish on Sunday is almost the same venue and there's preparations for that underway. We have all seen some of the parking stunts our fellow cycling crew get up. Imagine the level of compliant if some of the finish line work is not completed because people are trying to park as close as they can to the stadium for registration. No rocket science to figure out what the easy solution is. Plus public transport in Cape Town works. Secondly if you have to drive, drive to a point near the city and cycle to the secure bike park. So many options.

Chaos on the roads this aft.!

Even 30km away from the Expo. LOL

As I drove into Cape Town this afternoon on the N2, a bakkie with workers on the back rolled about 200 meters in front of us.

Tubehunter: yeah, I saw it. But when I asked if I could exit there the 3 "guards" clearly told me no and that I had to exit through the expo.

I am out. Got the Flu and Dr says no

Really sucks as I am fitter than I have ever been, spent the bucks on the bike, put the time in etc. Also got 8 family members doing it, most for the first time and I can't be there with them.

I feel for you.

I've been there.  But one thing I can say on the positive side, your flu will be gone in a couple days / weeks.

If you want to make yourself feel better, read Carbon's post here:

Wooohooo, Daughters second Junior "Argus" this year. I get so excited when she gets excited. When we went to collect my number she immediately knew from last year we were getting hers too. Crazy because she is only 2.4 years. So we got her numbers and she was smiling ear to ear.

Now if she decides she loves riding then I will support her as far as possible. If she doesn't then no biggie either.

Up now to start getting family ready, she is off at a brisk 8am to complete a grueling 1.7km on her trike.

Loved the gees of the little ones last year and the slightly old munchkins get pretty speedy racing each other.

I never got a Glamour magazine... only another cycle tour magazine.... I feel cheated!

Agge nee. You were robbed. At the Good Hope Centre this would not have happened.
