Can someone help. I'm doing my first ctct and no where is the magazine or the website does it explain how to actually get to the start. Plenty of images of the start pens but no direction to actually get there in the first place. No info on parking. Road closures only by text which doesn't help if you don't know CPT. Route map without actual roads. Very disappointing. So I've pretty much give up on even driving to the start and have begged a mate to drop me at stupid-O'clock but still don't know what route to take from southern suburbs.

Other option is to park at the Waterfront, and then just follow all the other cyclists to the start.  The Waterfront is conveniently in the middle between the finnish and the start.

Leave about 3 hours before you start and ask your buddy to take the M3 then NM boulevard. .and take the Strand street off ramp.....at the Adderly street intersection..get off there and make your way to the holding area and then to your respective chute....have a lekka ride......there will be so many riders...all in a panic about missing their group. ..it's quite funny watching them rushing about...☺

Thanks for that. So we can get into town on the M3 which I wasn't sure. Wrt the 3 hour you mention, I am starting at 6.25 so should miss the worst of the rush? I thought leave at 4.30 to get dropped by about 5.15. Will that work?

Jip that should be fine....☺

Would be lying if I said I wasn't a little envious of all those competing. Decided to give it a miss this year as it's becoming more difficult to justifying the cost's of hotels, fuel, eating out etc.

However, to all those competing, good luck to all of you, hope the weather behaves and everybody finishes unscathed.

Going to miss the beer tent and that band most of all I think.

Never got a glamour mag so I'm highly peeved, it would've scored me some good brownie points with the Mrs...

Quick qu, please tell me that the number boards are NOT compulsory??? If I wanted to ride with a number board on the FRONT of my bike I would've then taken up mountain biking!!

Totally agree. Completely stupid, the industry spends billions on getting more aero and you have stick this thing on your bike. And with cabling, light clamp, computer etc it's not exactly easy to find a place to attach it.

THIS is what my problem is... And i like to hold my bars in the middle next to the stem every now and again, this board is just going to be in the way.. Will see if i can get in the start chute without it on, if so great, if not, I'll just quickly attach it....

I like the new setup! Certainly feels like the CTCT is coming of age since moving away from Good Hope Centre! Did the walkby lunchtime today and there certainly was more vibe! It's crazeee lekka to see so many like minded people in one place ready to have a styling time and getting into the 'gees'!!!!

It felt like they were herding cattle through the dip pens for me. The stalls are all very shallow, so you can hardly step out of the current of human masses pushing you along. It is also almost impossible to swim upstream to shop around, compare prices etc. While I think that its good that they moved on from the Goodhope Centre, one has the question the decision not to invest in the Expo by having it at the CTICC. Sure it would cost a lot more, but surely then you would actually attract the leading bike brands etc. I think the only bike brand I saw represented was Swift. If there were others, i missed them in the sea of people moving through the dip pens. It is also better equipped in terms of catering and "making a day of it" if you wish to do so. The Expo is the only real place where the CTCT can still grow, so you'd think that the incentive to have a world class expo would be enough to make the investment.

CTICC would have been brilliant. I did not like the stadium venue at all. I was already moerig entering and having te exit through the stampede because the only ATM's are outside. The rest of the journey through the dark alleys made me even more moerig. Cant get into the bigger bike stalls - I dont think anyone else could have fitted. And when I got to Cwcycles who opted for an 1960's cash and carry approach, I called it a day and left. Goodhope had a much better expo experience imo. #notafan

Attach it to your seatpost like a licenced number! Problem solved...

No takers on Car pooling to CPT from Plumstead? No need to pay petrol or anything, just let me know, pop your bike on the back of the car, we free wheel from top of Loop down to start, no mess no fuss.
