Oh Wow that is a seriously hot bike........

Thanks!

Awesome ! Why the chain so slack ?

Thank you! Its to prevent me from riding it before its complete. LOL. I will be shortening it soon though. Just need to install the brakes.

What makes it stop?

I am going to be installing the breaks soon.

I used to have a 1984 Le turbo Grid 5. Loved that bike. Got scaled when my  parents moved house in 2001.

Thanks!

Nice!

I had a LeTurbo Grid 5 around the same time, with red anodised everything.

Thank you!

Here is my Le Turbo Grid 5.

That just brings back so many memories - I raced a Grid 5 back in 1984 in Newcastle.  I see you even have the little grey caps where the brakes come through the frame, and the Cable clips.  Mine were stolen in the bikeshed!

Wow really pretty.

My first bicycle/MTB/two wheeled device was a Kuwahara, so this brings back memories.

It was sourced from Westdene Cycles with 8 speed Shimano and cantilever brakes plus a steel rigid fork (all MTB's were in those days, forks were unheard of luxuries) for a princely R 1300-00.

First real bike - did the first ever 94.7 on that - first cycle race and took me about 4h50. Nearly died. 1 x water bottle for the race. Epic cramps.

It lived for a very long time, forks were added (elastomer rockshox with about 60mm travel, a revelation from rigid), V Brakes as well and then it was given to a nephew who rode it for a long time and it was finally stolen from his house in a break in.

Used to ride down the Spruit from Fratellis on a Saturday morning for a "long " ride. That was an epic outing in those days.

Yes. I built this one from scratch. Found someone who was parting out a New old stock one and bought most of the parts from him to complete my one. Those caps are Dia compe caps.

I am glad I can bring some nostalgia to the forum. Its a pity that some memories are bad as for the stolen bikes. That's the biggest fear we had back then. Bikes could never sleep inside etc. although I forced the issue back then and parked it in my room. LOL. Even when I went out in the rain I used to wipe it down and make sure it parked inside.
