Be prepared for all weather conditions.

I have done it in extreme heat and extreme cold.

And if it looks like the rain is clearing up, don't leave your rain jacket behind!. Never been so cold on my bike ever!

I would say not as difficult as day 2 Sani but overall, about the same.

Do not underestimate the portage. It uses muscles you are not used to using. I think it can be called a "technical portage" - not that easy especially if using racing snake carbon soles. A wet W2W is harder than Sani.

I missed the entry day- VERY JEALOUS (done 3).

I'm guessing the portage is on an uphill but how far?

Portage is very much uphill and about 20min plus if memory serves me well. Got more tired during portage than any of the 3days riding

Yoh Yoh! That's not fair or right a bit like Winnie's left boob.

The portage is tough, like Talus said, you use muscles you aren't used to using.

If memory serves me right this is the compulsory portage section.

Did W2W last year and was very impressed with the event and the riding, awesome trails and great scenery.

Managed to get a last minute offer for this year's Ride event. Looking forward to it.

30min plus. Compulsory. Lots of Rangers checking and enforcing it (NOBODY can ride it anyway). Steep uphill. Rocky and can be slippery. Cannot pass anybody. If the racing type you must gun it after table 2 to get to the portage early.

Portage, so much portage on day1 - that wagon trail climb suck so bad. What Talus said!

The rest of the race is awesome!

Eat enough, hydrate enough, and do your best to sleep sound - ear plugs, anti inflammatories/sleeping tabs/norflex and a portable charger - they're your friends.

All three events are as social or as competitive as you want them to be, but obviously the race features more people trying for a good time/placement than the ride does.

Lots of single track.

The portage on day one wasn't an issue for me but some took strain. It's a kilometre or two up a rough path, I pushed my bike most of the way, only picking it up over one or two rocky steps.

As previous poster said, leave some gas in the tank for the end of day 3, after the ascents.

Otherwise normal multiday rules apply. Eats lots. Eat natural. Keep hydrated. And play the long game.

Wish I was riding too!
