I dislocated my knee on Die Burger MTB, so have been easing back and currently still stuggle a lot to uncleat my right foot.

Is the MTB technical or sandy at all? (I currently ride like an scared little girl)

Looking for an enjoyable ride and scenery.

So 38km MTB or 80km road?

Did the mtb last year. Loads and loads of sand. Fatbike heaven.

True, the year before it had a bit of beach too. I just hope eveyone doing the road ride knows it is a fun ride. Nothing p.ss..s me off like a bunch of racers.

How the tar's condition?

Better for the wife to take her MTB and ride easy or save energy and ride her road bike (I pump her tyres to 8 bar to prevent punctures)

Plenty of Stop/Go on the R27. It is madness.

Lol, caught us off guard.

We arrived this morning with the anouncer warning all that the start is in 10minutes.

Wife couldn't go to the loo and we barely made it to the starting line, just to realise my brother in law riding with us has a temp number and starts at the back.

Anyway, I loved this ride. Did it full knobblied and felt likea 4x4 with the entire road to myself.

Ostriches crossed within metres of my wife and a herd of Eland passed infront of us as well. I've never experienced such awesome "service" at water points, and couldn't have expected such an awesome amount of extras for the R135 entry fee I paid.

Loved the salted baby potatoes, the Bar One's, say many people using pain spray and Deepheat.

How can all races not be like this?

Only thing I forgot was to put sunscreen on and now my arms are tomatoes.

Sorry, I should have posted the stop/go thing yesterday while caught up in them.

Glad you liked it, the weather was good too with a nice tail wind at the end. I just suffered at the start because I did not have my regular pre-race Monster Zero.

I did not stop at any of the water points but the vibe and cheering was incredible as always.

Just finished the 40km MTB and it was incredible.

The sand on the way to the park was hectic but fun, we had some ostriches running around as we went up to Seeberg followed by the tricky yet fast single track down. Actually climbed the mamba faster today than yesterday (2m56s)

Inside the country club we did the same route as the short ride (20km). They have some new single track with slightly banked corners and it snakes through herds of springbokke and other wildlife, incredible!

Very glad I stayed on for the MTB. Can't wait for the half marathon in April.

My Strava also says just over 700m.  Did the road and it was fun but wish guys can learn how to bunch ride, no need to suffer all alone.   Big up to the event and sponsors, will be back next year!

Enjoyed both rides - road and MTB. Broke a spoke and suffered a bucked rear wheel as a result soon after the start on the road race. Nursed it back and managed to finish 22nd overall with a time of 2h15. The MTB was tougher than I imagined - lots of sand and the nasty, pumping SE didn't help proceedings either. Got 3rd for the 40km MTB. Overall, a pretty successful weekend out.

Well done Aaron, that's good riding!
