After the brilliant race in 2012 at London, I am really looking forward to it. I will really miss not having Burry there, he could possibly have been at his peak and would have been in the mix for sure. Rest in Piece africanmtbkid.

2015 has been a titanic two way struggle between Absolon and Nino, defending Olympic champ coolharvey will hopefully be back up to speed. Here are pictures from the test event held earlier this month.

I read CX  young uber gun Mathieu van der Poel is now targeting the Olympics, will ride for NL, that's going to be interesting. He and Wout van Aert are dominating that scene right now, everyone else is way behind.

CX and XCO kinda similar, same length but in CX you more frequent peaks of intense effort vs XCO where there are longer more steady efforts (the climbs), also the technical bits more testing in XCO. Sven Nys has ridden in the Olympics before but I don't think he ever reached the podium.

There is a lobby to make Cross and Olympic sport, looking for a Winter spot though.

Chatting to Nick about it a while back and he said that it was an awesome experience designing and building the track. I think the keyboard jockeys may give it a bit of stick, as there was not much natural technical terrain to use in the park where the track is set, but Nick and his team have done an amazing job. Some of those rock gardens are epic. And then parts of that track are like a roller coaster.

Looks Rad.

On a side note: XCO needs some serious attention here in SA. The format is somewhat unheard of and when it is, it's usually associated with a "professional only" stigma.

C'mon, that looks like some serious fun to be had for the general rider who wants some more challenging riding than marathon, but without going full #enduro. Also, SA could do with some XCO medals.
