Also looking to upgrade as soon as I can find someone to do it in the West Rand. Summit Cycles in Midrand is surely not the only guys that can do the upgrade. Anyone in the West rand that can help?

First you say Gauteng, then sound less happy about Midrand which falls under Gauteng and follow it up with the West Rand .

Simple plan....... "can anyone in the West Rand do this for me"

I had the Fit4 damper fitted at Summit Cycles on Friday. What a difference it has made to the bike!!! I'm still playing with the setup of the fork, but I can already say that it is well worth the upgrade. Thanks to Anton from Summit Cycles for the excellent service and lekker chat.

Also had mine done with Anton, it's way more active (even small bumps make it do something) than before and the rebound actually now has some power in it's return. Those were my 2 biggest issues with the old damper.

I'm running mine wide open 99% of the time, with a rebound setting of 7 clicks from slow for reference. I put the Factory unit in.

Jeesh Eddy what a difference that damper makes. The bike now just floats over rocks and handles more predictably. I'm loving the rebound as well. It makes bunny hops allot easier...haha

Anyone other than Summit able to do this? Having phoned and left a message and then left a message via their website they clearly have a bit much on their hands.

Hi guys, to those who have done this upgrade has it had any impact on the flex this fork suffers from?

For me replacing the damper would be throwing good money after bad as my problem isn't really with how the fork works, yes it could be better, my problem is the flex. When hard braking I can physically see the fork "bend" backwards towards the downtube. Maybe 20-25mm possibly a bit more, not really looking at the wheel that much. Also a degree of sideways flex too when trying to track a line.

Your thoughts?

It has made no difference in the flex I see on mine. Mine is not 20-25cm, more like 0.5cm. but it's still there and it's still the same amount as before after the upgrade of the damper. I'd say the flex is more something to do with the crown/stanchions/lowers that are not beefy enough. It's a lightweight fork

I must say, having ridden a Fox 36 recently albeit on a better specced bike, I do think the 32mm stanchion is quite dangerous on a trail bike. Possibly we override it but it's just not up to it. I know it's holding me back but unfortunately so is my budget

Just think I will rather throw the money into saving for a better fork, the FIT dampers cost is not recoverable when selling off the fork.

I was gonna say that it sounds like you have a 32mm fork. then I saw your post above. You will be better off with a 34 or 36. 32's are for guys who are straw thin

What travel is your fork?
