Yeah. They don't compare. The South hoops are miles ahead in quality.

do you mean that the south hoops are way better than the pyga hoops or the enve hoops?

The south hoops are superior in finish and feel than the Pyga, having them each hand made makes a lot of difference. The Pyga's are strong but the finish leaves a lot to be desired.

Thank you!  Struggle to find a better carbon hoop (South ind) unless someone can convince me...

You won't go wrong with any of those options, but not all of them have a Lefty option for the front if you want a matching set.

And they're all flippen pricey so get used to that bit.

Having held Corse, ENVE, PYGA and South Industries in my hands and had a good slose look at the layup, consistency across a  pair of each, I feel pretty confident South Industry is a better product. CORSE, ENVE and PYGA are about the same. I place SI above these. Those guys clearly know how to build a rim.

I just hope they can maintain the quality if they become popular...

Tune

DT Swiss 240s

I9 Torch Classic

Chris King

all have Lefty front hub options.

Of the lot the DT swiss is probably the most cost effective set at approx R8000-00

Won't get much change from R10,000-00 for the other sets!!

And thats before R12,000 for the SI carbon rims

Project 321 comes in at about R 7k a set, but for my money I'd rather fork out the extra grand for the DT 240s...

The Pyga's I have handled have about the same finish as the South ones - but they are clearly better tested in use in SA - as to strength - who knows - that is hard to test properly without a test rig, and it is kind of subjective too - compare and Enve and a PYGA and you will feel a difference.

Fortunately I know the speed Patrick heads downhill on them.... his head, his rims...

Personally - I prefer a full UST rim without the inner holes...

The South wheels are much better finished than the Pyga's, that being said Enve's are not well finished at all! It is clear the moment you pick the Souths up someone has taken time and effort in making the Rim as good as possible.

Both are good wheels, great wheels maybe: but not the same.

The South Industries rims flex when you push down on them (without hubs and spokes). The Pygas you can sit on without flexing.

There's also the difference between the SI's 100kg pull through force and Pyga's 180kgf.

Weight of the respective rims on a like-for-like basis ?
