Bad chain setup by LBS destroys 947 ride

My son's SRAM Rival does it sometimes.  I have still not found the real cause of the problem.  Happens in the longer races.  Works fine first 60kms, then goes bad after that. I have shown him how to adjust the shifting with the barrel nut until I can get him a proper groupset.  :whistling:

Easy to Fix , more coke in mouth and less on bike :whistling:

SRAM 10 speed road front shifting is not great. Ask Andy Schleck it might have cost him the TDF. They have since redesigned the FD and have a built in chain spotter.

SRAM for mtb, Shimano for road.

Second that, the chain doesn't drop anymore, but the setup is difficult. The Shimano FD has four positions, the SRAM only has two. So if your Shimano is pretty close it will be good enough, the SRAM has to be perfect.

Don't agree. Been on sram force 10spewed for years and it's never missed a beat. Front shifting is more a function of flexy chain rings but you learn to work with it via timing the shift and zero problem. The 11speed rings are much stiffer

It works well if set up perfect, remove the derailleur completely and put it back and see what happens. I have SRAM Red for everything, so it is not lack of stiffness.

Done that several times. Goes right back to where it was everytime. When the cables wear then you get inaccurate shifting and it feels like your shifter is giving crap. Replace cables, set tension correctly and happy ridings.

I have Dura Ace on my  other bike and the SRAM is less finicky (but the DA is 11)
