I tried that, but in fun rides, that means hanging onto team mates seat posts and you get some very strange looks.

Try grabbing under the saddle for even stranger looks

It looks like I should not have said some hubbers are intellectually inferior. Allright, I apologise and withdraw that statement. Rewrite: “some hubbers are not intellectually inferior.” Ok ok ok, just joking!

In-between the irrelevance I found this to be a very valuable thread. Thanx for that! I took cognizance of the several cautions against using HR alone as indicator of efficiency. Yes, muscle fatigue is likely to be more critical in an ultra event such as Ironman. Towards the end of such a race it is not shortage of energy that hampers our performance, but usually “running out of muscle”! (I did not want to mention “triathlon” in order not to take the focus off the specifics of the bunny-hop technique.)

I conducted an inconclusive experiment today: climbing the same hill of 1.5 km while seated and spinning at around 90, and bunny-hopping at around 40 (unless your cadence is very low, the bunny-hop is difficult to execute). Kept HR constant and compared times over the distance. Analysis indicated insignificant differences in all respects.
I nevertheless plan on continuing with my experiments, and will post it if found to be conclusive either way.

Leaving this thread now. Thanks again

With all the trolling and mud-slinging this is also not my scene anymore...

I'm sure if Anton wanted his name 'defended' he would not have agreed to this way of doing it.

Anyways

Still interested in doing some EMG stuff on this at some stage, but

I'm out!

What bothers me is this "Are there any hills in PE at all?" which would then make this thread superfluous.

I know there is lots of wind BUT would the same question about standing still stand especially in a moere headwind. Along the Vishoek Simonstown stretch I sometimes have to stand.

Would this be trolling?
