Wow, R4500.

Somebody new to cycling perhaps who bought it.

Congrats.

It was a late Christmas gift for their dad, and could not get a better deal. My asking price was R5000, but gave them a R500 discount. Very impressed with my deal. :)

That's an old frame and old parts and you are going to battle to get replacement parts.

May be a old frame, but you won't believe how light the bike is. Old parts? Interesting, I am aware there is different models of XTR components, but my mindset tells me XTR is XTR. Correct me if I am wrong. :)

But the bike rides like a dream. I am just grateful I got this bike.

You must see how beautiful the bike is, will post a pic later...

EDIT: The bike was build by a bike technician.

Shimano ended this XTR M970 range in 2009.It's a 9 speed group so you can get other parts to fit but XTR bits are scarce and very expensive.

Hello guys,

So I saw a bike for sale here on The Bike Hub, and want to sell my bike in order to maybe buy it.

But, I have no idea what price I must sell it for.

And also, it is just a feeler. I want to see if anybody is interested before selling.

Thanks for your time guys.

:)

EDIT: Will post pics shortly

Hi

For me, a safe rule of thumb for new bikes:

Purchase price less 40% after year 1

Less 10% for each year there after... So 2 year old bike should sell for half of original purchase price. (Sucks I know)

If in great condition or a "special" bike you might do better...

Good luck

Thanks for the tip, my Scott Aspect 640 was two years old. I bought the bike for R6200 and sold it for R4500, so personally I think I did very well. And my new bike cost R5000, so I only needed to add a additional R500.

In a previous post you said you paid R5699 for the Scott...?

Yet to see pics of either of the bikes. #justsaying

nothing wrong with 9 speed mtb. Here's the selection of cassettes on crc , plenty of options and much cheaper than 10/11 spd equivalents.

Plus loads of garages full of perfectly functional 9 spd bikes because no one rides 26 anymore
