Rogue Riding

Simple - he wasn't a rogue in the same sense that the riders being outed on FB are. He was paid up and then behaved badly leading to the loss of the trail. The riders using whatever that track is without boards( they may even be members) are probably not going to cause the trail to get closed, they are simply breaking a rule and/or not paying which is a different kind of bad. I am quite happy with FB being used to catch them. Everyone must pay and/or display their boards if members.

The purpose of this Thread/Facebook post, is to "identify" the riders pictured, who are "Trespassing" on a farm, of which TGMTB club were given the privilege to build MTB trails, GIVEN TERMS AND CONDITIONS BY THE FARM OWNERS, that the club should take responsibility to ensure no one TRESPASS ON THEIR PRIVATE PROPERTY, without a legal membership.

The Kliprug scenario is a completely different matter, a paid up member(legally on the farm), behaving badly in HIS OWN capacity (out of TGMTB club`s control)....

This is very simple.

Perhaps they had day licenses , after all its just a slip of paper that cannot be displayed??

Those photos were taken on the "Corkscrew" section at Bloemendaler, which is a Members Only trail.

YES, BUT WILL A FEW TRESPASSERS LEAD TO THE LOSS OF THE TRAIL?

OP. "...light of the fact that we ( as a club ) have already lost access to Kliprug trail between Contermanskloof and Hillcrest due to rogue riding, I feel very aggrieved and peeved buy the situation."

I'd say it is sufficiently part of the conversation. As you were headshot.

Then that is of concern. What can these riders expect in response to their actions?

What would you suggest? Not much one can do...

Hows that trespasser list from Dirtopia going that was punted a year or so back - if you on that list you are banned from the big races like W2W - any rider on that list yet?

How is this so hard? They all have their garmins on and you know what time the photo was taken, look at which riders were on that segment at time of photo, and boom got a name to look up online and call.

My thoughts exactly. I've not seen any mention of it here yet. May also have missed it but if not, people respond to a loose threat by taking chances in increasing amounts.

Time some teeth are shown?

If the hub were to flag every strava ride ever for eternity, punishment enough.

By Law, they were Trespassing on Private Property. So if the Farmer want to, he can make a case against the Trespasser's, given the Positive Identification provided by these pictures.

I think this should really explain why the TGMTB Club put these measures in place, to Honour the farmers and keep good relations, with both Owners and Riders

YES !!!!

I no longer have a planned race going through my farm because cyclists trespassed on my neighbour's land and he withdrew his permission.

Why is it hard to understand that people have NO automatic rights on private property and are only there by the grace of the owner.

OR CAN I COME AND PITCH MY TENT IN YOUR LOUNGE FOR CHRISTMAS ?

The '59 trespass act is written in basic language but it's just a tool to provide a framework of action. As you say, it's the landowners choice. Could this be seen as yet another threat?

People are angry. Landowners gatvol.

Nope, the day pass must be tied to your bars.

I would like to put it on record that I thought long and hard about starting this post. I do not apologize for inflaming a discussion about this, as I feel that what goes into creating these beautiful trails should be justified in terms of memberships being paid up, or day passes purchased.

My dad owns a farm in the Kammanassie, and I know firsthand what it is like to have uninvited people trespassing on your land. As a fellow mountain biker, I really appreciate the trails we have available to us, and am also keenly aware of how quickly this privilege can be revoked.

I am passionate about this topic as there seems to be a spirit of lawlessness pervading society in general. Just look at how people act on the roads. Stop signs are to be ignored, taxis can all of a sudden drive in the opposing lane, people's love towards each other has turned cold. And now, it seems to manifest itself on our trails.

So what is my rant about, really?

Pay to play, or piss off. It's simple really.
