Long swim done last night, active recovery spin this evening, short easy swim and short run Wed, Thurs bike and kit check and pack.  Drive Fri, register and expo.  Sat practice swim and transition check in... Sunday race and then enjoy the race village beers and vibe!!!

Next week do nothing... bliss !!!

Weather looking good, glad to see both wind and swell dropping.

Going to be fun and enjoyable this year and also looking for a sub 6

Safe travels and have a great race

I'm really looking forward to this. I'm pretty happy with my training even though it was  a short spell. Tapering is great, I can't wait for a beer and a burger afterwards.

Hoping for sub 5:15.

It is difficult for me to set a goal time, having not done Durban last year. For those who have done East London and Durban, how do your times compare?

Durban is much faster and flatter.  Having said this never underestimate any 70.3 + distance race

Because I'm a bit bored:

Bike leg elevation gain:

EL70.3 - 1,038m

Midlands - 1,185m

TriRock - 700m (basically Durban 70.3 bike leg)

Run elevation gain:

EL70.3 - no idea, didnt run with GPS but definitely more than the other two

Midlands - 185m

Trirock - 96m

Its not only that but also the "climbs" in Durban is 3 degrees at most so you hardly "redline".  The tar is super smooth which also makes for a very comfy ride.

Beware of the swim after the last bouy.  Last year it was hectic trying to beach

yebo. Last year I seriously underestimated Durban and paid the price for it....While it appears easy it was not so for me last year.

Someone posted the elevation of Durban an midlands, last year I was faster in Midlands than Durban.

Fabes that is not ideal.

I've just discovered that I left the crack pipe for my disk wheel at home so I'm left with a flat rear and no way to inflate :(. Fingers crossed someone at bike checkin has one. Or on Sunday morning

I have a spare road bike if there are any last minute problems and someone is short a bike.

Size 56 Felt, just serviced. Wheels not the best though

get in touch with the guys at Cyclesphere, they have a mini workshop at the expo and should be able to help you out.

Gurns thanks mate, if you could maybe send me your details via PM and I could call you if I don't come right. A 56 would be perfect for me. Will wait for airline to call in the morning

Much appreciated
