woop woop! Was worried about that one, so now I'm wheelsucking right till the Vissershok climb

But to be serious, it's actually a pity, probably the only place in the first 90km's where the groups get a chance to split a bit. Especially if we have massive groups caused by earlier "mergers"...

That little kicker is such a toughie indeed

It'll be a fast-moving rollerfest ^_^_^_^ towards Paardeberg

Okay so I'm not going to rant... well I'm going to try my best not to but the enquiries / substitution method @ Kenilworth was a joke and not what was told on the phone from their Head Office earlier today. Very frustrating and a good ol' waste of time. 99er over for me, grrr.... (breathes deeps, goes to happy place).

Have to say Number pickups seemed a little poorly marked, found the spot in the end.

Also see that goodie bags are a thing of the past. STCT not goodie bag and 99er, though last year nothing either. SIgns of the times.

I did not miss the goodie bag. Was around the corner from me so no issue. Ladies were helpful and let me pickup a stack of race numbers and did not need to take a racetec chip [emoji12]

Gents,

Temps predicted for the day is Mid 30, so actually 40s on the hok.

Please take care as this type of heat and a climb like hok can lead to a life threatening situation.

Take enough water , hope the organisers are prepared for what's coming.

Add a pinch of table salt to your water. Loss of body salts on a hot day is dangerous!

People complained that this races it too expensive but the amount of effort these guys are doing to make this event a good one is great!

Some road closure, fixing potholes and a hilltop finish...all in one race!

Well Done!

True, I heard through the parent committee of the school organizing it that they are going through a massive effort for the event to make it safe and enjoyable!

Happy that a school still gets involved, reminds me of all the fun rides in the late 90's.

Agree, the amount of effort these guys doing is incredible. They identified sections where the road is not up to scratch, they contacted the municipality to come and fix up some areas. Most of us is willing to pay a bit more than normal for an event but then you have to give me something in return. They doing that! :-)

Very good point AuctionLamb - we are very quick to hang, draw and quarter organisers when they make mistakes (just see the Advendurance Meerendal thread) - but slow to recognise when organisers are putting a lot of effort into little details to give us a good experience.

Armed vehicle at Fisantekraal!?! Wow...

According to last email sent , yes, I assume its because of the  the attacks there few weeks ago and they don't want another Burger MTB fiasco
