Hey Guys

In the market for a new multitool, since mine was taken without my consent.

Which ones do you guys recommend that will be able to fix the bike on the mtn side?

The little kit I am looking at building up would be a mini leatherman with knife and pliers type system, then a chain breaker and then some form of multitool - but I have no clue of which one.

Any suggestions on tools that would cover all the bolt sizes ?

The spez SWAT stuff is cool:  chainbreaker goes into headtube and multitool attaches to bottle cage at bottom.   It is expensive kit tho.

Don't forget different sized plugs and plug tool thingy, as well as patches & glue for sidewall tears (to keep the tube inside the tyre).  I learnt the last lesson the hard way.

These have not yet let me down ......

The pliers goodie I bought at Due South.

Been thinking about your post and including some small pliers in my kit...nothing like a stuck valve to ruin a ride / race.

That is exactly why I started taking it after learning that lesson ...... at the time I even had a spare tjoop but it was useless!

Faybes is the biggest MULTITOOL I know, but in fact he serves no purpose

Always the same trolls... Just so sad that some can actually get away with it and others not

My MTB kit is pretty much identical to this. I carry more CO2 bombs, a few chain master links, a spare valve and sometimes a spare tube. I learnt the hard way that you must have big plugs like these in the picture.

  I showed just the 'tools', on the spares side I carry a quicklink and a spare valve core. I also always carry a small pump, if it's an important 'event' I'll tape a spare tjoop under my seat.

I have not used a tube in a few years (on MTB that is, on road ja now that's a whole other story sadly :whistling:  )..... anyone else?

SLIDE PRO S-20 is a PRO brand multitool with 20 functions and very compact.
Alloy body with nickel plated steel tools.
Integrated design and lightweight only 166 grams.
Hex keys 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 mm.
Standard and Phillips screwdrivers 1 and 2
Torx T25
3 keys for radios
Wrenches 8, 9 and 10
Removable cover (This is actually a tyre leve)
Chain Tool with Shimano chain pin 9, 10, 11 speed
Includes protective sleeve.

Very compact. Fits in that tiny camabak tikie pocket.

I've never needed more than it had on the trail.

So far yes for tightening stems, seatpost, adjusting headset, gear cable and derailleur stuff ... haven't needed anything heavier 'yet' ....
