Sorry, was refering to your previous post about David in the Giro.

Looking at his final result there and saying that he didn't do well is hardly fair. One had to be there and see what was going on to really comment.

Just like Chris was saying about how the guys in EU are riding. You can read as much cyclingnews as you want to, there are always a lot of things happening without the general public having the slightest idea.

As for Chunky's comment about why SA is sending riders to Beijing... How should the Namibians feel then? EmbarrassedOuch

Namibians? Atleast they qualified a place in the games smiley1.gif

Listen Chunky, I know you're not saying that he's a bad rider or whatever but that's not the point. The point is that ppl are questioning his place in the team to an event which will suit him almost perfectly. You and others are questioning this because of his 'apparent' bad state of racing condition. And that he may not have recovered from his crash etc etc.. All I'm saying is that I am over here with him now and I can see for myself that he is definitely not struggling to race at this level.

I only say this as it's something nobody back home can truly say for themselves by only looking at the results on the internet. Take last Wednesday's race for example at Fleche. After 150km of hard racing and a split up the road with no Barlo riders in front, who was on the front pulling it back? Yes his result for the day showed he finished outside the time limits but not many ppl can fully appreciate what it takes to still be in a pro tour classic after 4 hours of racing and still be pulling on the front. That's why when I see ppl like yourself publicly questioning his ability then I felt it was necessary to give a bit more inside info on how he's actually doing over here....

And if JL falls into that so called category of "Barloworld cannon fodder" you refer to then call it what you want but he's frikking strong either way...

Ok. Point Taken.

Personaly I still dont think that is the strongest team that could be chosen for Beijing. I think there are other combinations that could work well if not better.

Eitherw ay the Souf Efrikens are going to be on the back foot with only 3 riders on a course that doesnt suit all of them. The infighting will also not help OuchOuch.

Lets hope that they prove us all wrong and get a good result SmileSmileSmile

Wow, looks like all the big guns are hanging around on the Hub these days: CFroome, dirtyhippo, Craven, die lemmetjies....  I think I'll just keep quiet and listen.   I feel honoured to be able to get their feedback so directly!

you have more tjommies, what about jacques? well done for nolan at track champs, seems he's on awesome form. road sa's will be good with him and his team against the yellow boys, esp malcolm and king george.

Olympic shortlist was selected a while ago and then Jacques was not in the eye yet, but yes, he also fits into the mould for selection into the race to groom for the future

ConfusedI have just read on Cyclingnewssa.co.sa about a comment made by a Mnr Wagenaar (convener of selectors?). What a buffoon! He implies that SA has no chance of a medal so youngsters should be sent for "experience". That would probably make us the only country in the world to send athletes to the Olympics for experience!

Experience the youngsters can get in Europe for season or two! The Olympics is for the best you have got to do the best they can for their country. I'm glad to see that Tony Harding stood his ground iro David George on this issue.

Lawrence Whittaker got George in, not Harding.

Mr Wagenaar is one of the old folks we didnt re elect. He is no longer a selector or road commissioner.
