and you need to be able to maintain this, it should become a lifestyle and not just a one month flavour, so rather get better first.

so bummed that i cant keep the wheels turning today...had a rest day on sunday and yesterday...gona have to be very careful wit this head cold...i wanted to start training today...but i think i should wait till my throat clears and nose stops running...then i can slowly ease back into it.

Ise, bru, listen to your body. If you're not over your cold you're not yet ready to restart your training.

In April I picked up a niggle with ankle and had to wait until that was over before carrying on again. Yes it was frustrating but it allowed me to see how much I enjoyed being able to run and ride my bike. Training/exercise should be fun. It shouldn't be a chore. Rest and recover and then go have fun on the bike!

In the meantime maybe watch some GCN/GMBN videos to help keep the stoke going!

getting there slowly slowly...down to 104.5 kg this morning...trying to stay focused...

clothing is getting loose...belt is on the last hole...and i can even fit into my zero jacket (been a while)....size 38 fits without pulling in the gut...i have dumped all my size 40-44 clothes... instead of putting them back into the bag in the top of my cupboard.

almost time to take the next bag down...size 36...i should fit into them once i get to around 100 kg.

feels great to slip on a tee shirt and not have my gut hang out the bottom.

time to start preparing for the Amashova...i have 3 goals for this years (my second attempt)

i dont want to sit on the side of the road at 70 km again (did get up eventually and ride to the finish)

i want to finish in under 4 hours (last year 4.35)

be under 100 kg on the day.

Stepped on the scale yesterday...  Think I was down, but got 3 different readings from my scale.  And worst of all is, it is with the new scale.  So will try to replace the batteries today to see if it solves the problem.  Paying a huge amount for a scale and then getting 3 reading back to back with changing numbers aint cool at all.

Have you checked the manual on how you need to set it up?

Even mine had that and it's an old school analog one!

getting lighter...still at 103

getting thinner...hell yes put on a L work shirt today and didint have to suck in the gut...down from a xxl with my gut pulling on the buttons.

faster...according to strava there is improvement..

Umhlanga lagoon climb - first attempt 13:37...on Saturday 5:34...with 9 other PRs...the best part...no stops on the hills.

Sunday...15 PRs...i manged to pedal up every hill without stopping...from Oscars to the Caltex garage and back.

all done on my 2002 model trek 1000.

Amashova under 4 hrs this years and no road side moments at 70 km...looks promising.

some motivation as to why you want to get lighter if you ride a bicycle and have a few hills where you ride.

we have a small climb in our area with a 15 % gradient...here some stats on what it takes to get up the hill...estimated power (not sure how accurate...just interesting to see)

the guy with the kom 33s...weighs around 90 kg his effort

max power 734 w

avg power 537 w

the guy in second place 37s (me) weight 103 kg

max power 1213 w

avg power 602 w

the fella in 3rd place 42s weighs a little more than my anthem (this fella has most of the koms in our area)

max power 627 w

avg power 271 w

we could go into the type of bike and gear selection etc etc...but the bottom line is if you weigh less you get up the hills easier and recover faster for the longer segments.

another goal achieved...hill2hill 45 km...last year spent more time walking up the hills than riding...this year i rode all the way to the top of the two biggest climbs and only walked up 2 short climbs due to loss of traction in the mud...now just the Amashova.

I'm busy with one helluva battle...can't seem to drop below 105kg and have now popped back up to 108kg. So frustrating, work is keeping me off the bike haha, evrytime I get a decent start I have to go away again. Following an intermittent fasting program now but I'm still not dropping. So damn frustrating
