Any SRAM clutch rear derailleur will do the trick.

Cool. Luckily my buddy Splat had one for sale.....  :whistling:

An expense I wanted to avoid, but.........

Will report back once I got my grubby hands on it and fitted it.

Gave the 1x11 a good workout over the weekend, including some hectic climbs and a few rocky downhill sections. Works a charm, but there is still a little bit of fine tuning to be done for gears 11-15, rest is buttery smooth, no "rubbing"

Not a bit of chainslap was to be heard on the rocky descends, no chain drop at all. (2x10 chainslapped like mad on the same section)

Climbs was a bit more difficult, but I suspect it is my current condition more than anything else. My lower back started aching on the climbs, but my legs felt good. This must still be a leftover from my last two spills.

But I did get to the top, eventualy.

To say that I'm a happy chappy is an understatement.   :D

Guys, after some chain drops on the weekend, I need to go to clutch/type2. or

Will an 11spd GX RD work with 10sp xx shifters?

That's a good point, was wondering the same thing after this Rapide conversion cropped up, I don't see why not.

Can a compatible 10sp Sram shifter converted with Rapide's 11speed shifter mod be used with any 11sp Sram Rd (with a 11sp cass obviously)?

How's your chain tension? I have covered a good 200kms since the conversion with zero chain drops. This includes jumps, stairs, roots and some fast rocky downhills.

One other thing, are you running a nw front chain ring?

Based on Wannabe's experience with a GX RD I would be pretty confident to say yes ....

I think I've probably covered over 2000km riding with 1x10

setup is NW infront with xx RD, my tension is not great, hence the chain drops, think the RD might just have had too much.

Chaindrops are also becoming more of a thing than in the earlier days.

He's got the GX 10speed rear derailleur.

I'm interested to know about an 11spd RD.

Ah okay cool, I thought it was a new setup that you are having issues with.

I haven't tried this myself, but I've seen it mentioned in several places that the new 11 speed rear derailleurs are NOT compatible with the converted 10 speed shifters (to 11 spd using the rapide selector).

The reason is that the pull ratio (the ratio of shift lever turn vs. cable pull at the rear derailleur) is different for the 2 generations. The older 10 speed generation uses Exact Actuation (1:1 pull ratio), while the newer 11 speed stuff (including the 2x11 GX) uses X-Actuation.

Check out these three GX rear derailleurs on CRC:

1x11 and 2x11 and 2x10.

No, I don't think so. They have different actuation / pull ratios. It would essentially make each click of the shifter push the rear mech too far beyond the next gear.

You'd have to get an 11 speed rear mech to go with your X1 11spd shifter, I'm afraid.
