Sounds like you now turn right at the satellite dish towards Kloofzicht (previously you went straight down Beyers, over the N14, turn right past Carnivores and get onto the N14 at the Spaza shop for the drag up to the mall)

So its right at the satellite, down the hill, watch out for the circle, up the two bumps to Kloofzicht, then left towards Avianto and onto the N14 at the Spaza shop.

See, I hear its past the dish, but directly onto the N14 and not over it and down past Carnivore like before... but like I said, mixed stories.

Ai ***

Edit: That circle cannot be taken at the speeds you can get tdown that hill, expect a few hard crashes there!

Is it not the same route as every year except going over the N14 and then right you turn straigt onto the newly tarred N14 like the older version of this race?

I have checked the new route, and compared to last year. Distance about 2.5 km longer with additional 100m climbing.
Route goes post Valverde, right at satellite dish, down the hill to dangerous circle, with built in speed bump on approach.  Then up the two hills to Kloofzicht circle.  Then turn left towards Avianto, and under N14, where you then turn right onto old route, with "small" climb to finish.

The two extra bumps/hills towards Kloofzicht, are gonna hurt tired legs, but It is the same for all of us.

Dangerous is an understatement

I had a flat on my way to the start! It was a good indication of what was to follow.

I had a really tough day and suffered on those extra climbs and kilometers. Organization was fine. The middle (big) AL bunch had periods of cohesion followed by really pedestrian pace and wheelsucking. The result is that we all missed a sub 3.

I am not sure whether the race got tougher or I am just sleg - but it was hard.

New finish definitely a bit tougher with the extra km and climbing. The last few rollers killed me in VA.

I recorded 108 km's an 1188 metres of climb...the last 10 kays had me on the ropes ... Cycled to start an home so all in all 160 km day... Await results but suspect I was slower this year than last year.

Respect! (I see on Strava another wellknown hubber did it with you).

A tough day in the saddle for sure. I thought I was in the middle big AL bunch but recorded a 2:59 so maybe I was in the front one.

The guy with the awesome beard from the Activize team managed to get us organized a few times but unfortunately didn't last long.

The extra distance really fkd me up. I was pacing for 102km and averaging 29.6km/h.

In the last 10km (or so I thought) I starting pushing it. By the time I hit 102, I was spent.

The final 5km added in killed me and ended up with a 27.9 average. Bit annoyed at that.

First time I rode with groups, and what a save. Had some dudes from AL up front pulling along a bunch of us DL and EL peeps. Huge kudos to you guys!

Overall, I really enjoyed the ride. Finishing it off with a massive lamb curry has made the whole day :)

I expected more for a race with the same entry fee as the other big races, will not be doing it again.

Thought the race felt quite safe with the smaller bunches and the waterpoints were well stocked with all kinds of goodies. The extra hills and kms wasn't fun, but it is the Berge en Dale afterall
