The current bike is in perfect working order. Had it serviced prior to stopping riding. Stopped coz I was running more and training for a marathon. Ran the marathon then decided to reward myself with eating, drinking and partying.

Now it's time to get into shape so started with gymming/running, dropped 10kgs and wanna get back on the bike.

I don't need a new bike, I want a new bike, figure that will give me motivation to ride more and get fitter without slacking

Reality check - new bike won't be motivation for long.

Leaner and meaner - that's motivation - then new bike.

New bike is not going to make it easier either.

I have 2 bikes (brand new anthem 29er and a merida full carbon spec Di2 the works) hanging in my office which cost an arm a leg and a kidney...i am still fat.

Maybe if i buy another bike it might motivate me to loose weight [emoji41]

Just kidding...i wish you luck...i am too scared ride my anthem in case i break the frame and the merida i am too heavy for the wheels...tooo stressed to loose weight and too poor to buy new wheels.

Thank goodness it is friday[emoji13]

If you are not buying something with very strong wheels, eg the Giant, then factor into your budget an extra R6k -R9k for proper wheels. I weigh slightly more than you and my new Trek's 28 spoke Bontrager's couldn't handle the weight. Had to buy Stans Flows on Hope hubs. Currently the best value for money for our weight class. Cwc is/was running some nice specials

How much do you okes weigh   - at my heaviest I weighed about 105kg's I still rode any one of my bikes without fearing it would fall apart under me .... OK fair enough I don't do any jumps or crazy drop offs but at that weight it was the last thing on my mind (even now my wheels on very very rare occasion leave the ground intentionally)

Even wheels besides some exotic wheels I took from my son's bike that had few spokes and looked 'cool' that I could actually feel flex and make strange noises I've here and there had a spoke or nipple break.

But on the other hand Darren perhaps I ride like a woos

The guy wants a new bike and he has the money (I'm assuming), so no one is going to convince him otherwise, no matter what they say

but advice on making an informed decision as to the correct bike never hurts
