Ergofit or Cyclefit

I have never had a bike fit done in 13 years of cycling and think it is time to do so.

Now, after my research I came across these 2.

Ergofit is about R650 per bike, and cyclefit (comprehensive) is R1495.

Is the cyclefit for this price worth the extra money?

It will be for mtb and a road bike.

you have a rough idea of the cost?

Strangely, I emailed them about it yesterday and got this reply:

The fit that I would recommend you to do is the full comprehensive Body Geometry bike fit, it covers a pre bike fit interview that will take roughly 45 min and it will go through various flexability  and reflex tests. This will allow us to fully understand the limitations that are specific to you making no setup identical.

There is a follow up fitment that is inclusive to the price that should be done between 3-6 weeks of riding or as otherwise required.

The Body Geometry Fitment R 1450.00

Hidden costs that could occur would include inner sole for your longitudal arch support if needed. Saddles and Shoes would be to your discretion.

We need to book a 2 hour slot for all of this, if you have more than one bike they are R750 for a secondary bike as we already have your body assessment on life, this can be done any time within a 12 month window.

Ive done an ergofit for mtb - made a huge difference to increase pedalling efficiency. Although it did put me in full roadie position which i ended up moving back to more neutral after a few rides. He did however pick up that my knees track skew and gave me some corrective shims for my shoes. All in all informative and worth it. Was R500 odd at Giant Cape Town

I'am in Pretoria and a shop in centurion quoted me on the Ergofit.

ok, so a cyclefit std for R695 or ergofit for R650.... decisions....

I have had both done.  Cyclefit is a more practical approach with actual lasers to check setup and knee tracking.  Ergofit uses a lot of "scientific" data to set you up according to and ideal position based on research of what the best body and joint angles should be.  Both work and between the 2 I am now pretty comfy on the bike, so I would suggest going with the one that is closest to where you live!

I tried out all these guys... Ergo Fit, BG Fit and CycleFit.

Both the Ergo and BG still left me uncomfortable on the bike. After trying out CycleFit, I took all my bikes there - Road - MTB - Track and won't use anybody else anymore.

You don't have to do the comprehensive setup off the bat. Go for the standard setup whereby they do everything from cleat placing to setting up of the bike.

This is just my personal experience and my opinion

SPOOK from Daisy Way Coaching Systems is the best.  Spook is the husband of Erica Green, the olympic cyclist.  He has one of the MOST important tools for bike fitting which the Ergofit guys don't even have. His system uses Science and art plus experience to set you up.  The biggest difference with him, is he listens to you.  He adjusts the bike so that your handling is good, not just how much power you can extract from you.  His setup, gave me 12watts average more per hour, and in a more comfortable position that I fatigued in less, plus it eliminated my lower back issues.
