I was fortunate enough to ride some of the route with two of the route honchos today.

The 46 will be hard again. The 70 will be a monster. If you want to do the 70, put on your big boy or big girl pants. This is a hardebaard route. I considered riding the 46 on my singlespeed, but after today's ride, I'm taking the bike that has a low-range gear box.

It is lekker, but hard riding, with stunning views and some rough descents.

Perfectly crisp winters morning. Calm after the storm.

Excited and nervous for it - doing the 46k.

Are there many sandy spots? Hate sandy spots.

You will enjoy the 46km, it will be hard but very rewarding.  The only really sandy bit is just before you get the last descent down to the finish at Flowervalley, but we hope to have that sorted come September.

Isn't it nice to know that you will be going down this side instead of up.  The new climb is much more manageable :)

Above is a short video of the final loop. The Avoca downhills are missing from this video - you can watch them here  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imaUNhOu4ns

The 65km is hardcore - it offers a unique riding experience for the fit rider.  Good climbs on all kinds of surfaces, awesome views and downhills, and single track you won't experience anywhere else!

I rode some of the track with Corrie recently and I can say with utmost confidence

YOU GUYS ARE IN FOR A BLAST!

Some proper mountainbiking.

The guys doing the 65km need to bring their Big boy undies, there is plenty of climbing, but the track looks fantastic and there are some beautiful new sections which many of the distances will be doing.

The fynbos is also looking awesome as you go through parts of Grootbos.
