To those who have done this race, especially the 50km, what should I expect in terms of bottle necking?

Was fortunate enough to get a late entry, but I don't want to waste my time if I am just going to be stuck behind slower riders the whole day :cursing: Will probably have to start in the last batch

Would love to do it, but just want to make sure, as I would assume there is not exactly a lot of room for passing.

That being said, who will be there on Saturday? :)

I'll be there, would be nice to get a ride profile maybe?

I've never ridden there so have no idea what to expect.

Not sure as to what the exact route will be, but there are no climbs, so I expect around 300-350m elevetion gain for the 50km. FLAT and fast

Well, If you are trying for podium, I am sure you may get stuck behind slow riders, when starting from the last batch.

As for the race, it's one of my fav races, venue is pretty cool, and the singletrack is faaaaast.

I always go there with some expectation of bottlenecks, and I have only ever really once stood for maybe a minute. Give yourself some distance between the rider in front, and you should be able to ride everything easily.

There is opportunity to pass, and if you are a little patient, more often than not riders will make space.

Rather go to enjoy the route, and concentrate less on your seeding, and you will find that this is a most enjoyable race.

Starting from D. Look for the white On-one

Never done the 50km there so it will be interesting.... Does anyone know if we will do the drop off on the dam wall?

I am starting in E batch so no traffic for me...all the traffic will be 5km ahead before i get there..haha

Looking forward to an awesome ride. RB has never disappointed me, and dont think they will start now.

See you all there.

That little downhill section is always in the race. There is an option a chicken run there as well.

Thanks - I did the drop the other day and it is fun... the chicken run was more of a challenge with all the rain washing away the path...

going to be a fun ride down there..

Nervous but very excited.

there is plenty bottlenecking if you are not in front of the bottleneckers.

These races are usually full of bottleneckers with plenty opportunity to cause one while looking very angry at you waiting for them as if it is your fault they are unable to negotiate the flat terrain.

true story.

Ride fast, Ride hard, Leave em all behind.

Only then will you enjoy the beauty of the almost 100% singletrack.
