Guy Attacked On Table Mountain

Been riding on Table Mtn ( mostly alone ) for around 8 years. Since middle of last year started to feel unsafe. What will it take ( a near death incident like today ? ) for something to be done.

Is part of the solution not finding the groups who buy these bikes taken.

Surprised so few posts after an incident like this . Are we becoming numb and just accepting this as the new normal like our thieving , corrupt useless government?

this is a great solution, well done!

haha, just thought the same thing!

Just cannot take the "treck!" okes on their specializeds though. LOL  Meerendal on a Saturday is like a wanker fest.

Was just saying to my wife whilst stuck on De Waal drive in traffic yesterday that I'd love to cycle the Table Mountain trails, but it's just too risky.

Hoping he heals soon.  We need this policed properly.

give me a shout, monday to friday i'm on the table mountain, commute to and fro work. there most saturdays as well

more often than not now a days we at least 2, but i do often cycle alone.

SanParks is a myth to me, i bet i'd see them like once or twice for the next 2 weeks, and like before into thin air they'd dissapear until the next incident.

love the twitter war going on at the moment, apparently Plum Pudding which is the major spot if not as far as i can remember atleast 90% of table mountains muggins are from here, yet according to SanParks this is not the priority spot...

I'm the other one that tends to make up the 2. But 3 or 4 is better.

Let me guess, an urgent meeting will now happen and blah blah.

For Fark sake, women were raped in the area!

Sanparks and the cops are like kids with attention deficit disorder. Two weeks is a long time for them.

The priority spot is the Rhodes Memorial parking area if I look at where I encounter them (to check my permit). Their head office isn't called Mt Pleasant for nothing. The cops just  stamp and sign certified copies at the Mowbray cop shop. They only come out if you burn a bus on their doorstep, and then just to melt their marsmallows (no arrests allowed for lack of evidence). I hardly ever find Parks rangers more than a few hundred metres from Rhodes Mem and I have never seen them on top of Plum Pudding or at the blockhouse, from where they can easily monitor the whole area. I have never seen a cop anywhere above Rhodes Mem. I have never seen any of then carry a pair of binoculars. I don't think even an electric bike will get their lazy asses up where they are needed

Now I have to decide where to go for my Sunday morning ride, cheers (not so cheerily)! :cursing:

Edit: Previously their response was that we don't see them because they are hiding.....I now call bull**** on that one. Catch the baddies, then I'll believe that you were there!

Have seen sans park guys at plum pudding hill - checking for permits - 4 of them...........

On top of Plumpudding? Amazing. You sure you weren't hallucinating from going too fast up the steep side? :whistling:  ;)

on 1 occassion a motorbike stopped Meezo and I one morning at Plumpudding. On two occassions the sanparks bakkie was parked at the big tree. But this is over a spread of a couple of months. But that's it.

On another note, any word of the condition of our fellow cyclist?

Yes, I saw some of that. I also note how just a few months ago Parks and SAPS were being praised for their effort.
