I noticed yesterday that my tire is rubbing against my frame, after inspecting further I saw It had messed the paint up pretty bad also.

So I just went home to true the wheel. Start spinning the wheel but the rim is dead straight almost 100% true.

but still the tire has this weird bump to the side on a small part , OK lets just check if its seated all the way round......Jip tire seated perfectly

So is the tire actually stretched ?? Is that even posible??

No stretched. Warped.

Happens sometimes if a wheel is left deflated for a long time, or when the casing on the inside starts failing - and the tire starts pulling "skeef".

Ive had this *** with a Continental tyre twice, hit a small ditch slightly skew and deformed the tyre. The bead was still perfectly seated but the tyre had deformed and a wobble to it in that particular spot.

Havent had it on any other brand.

I have had this with a maxxis tire. The tire was not perfect, had a wobble in it. Inside the tire surface when I checked it was fine. It didn't touch the frame though. The tires shouldn't touch the frame, unless you pushing the limit of the width. Are you a big guy?

+1. happened to me too with a continental protection mtb tire. so many problems with those darn tires i tell you. the thread in the side wall tears and causes deformation of the wall.

I've had this issue with a brand new continental gatorskin folding bead tyre. The culprit in my case was that 40mm of the tyre bead was missing on one side, causing the tyre to buldge out the side; there was simply just no bead inside that section of the tyre, I cut it open and tried to insert my own mcguyvered bead, which almost worked but ended up just ditching the tyre (it was given to me by a friend who brought it over from the US, so no returning it etc.) I'm surprised the tyre held at 8bar for the 150km before I checked it. Proceeded to buy a wire bead tyre locally. Messed up my paintwork aswell so sent my frame off for touch ups.

lots of maxxis tires delaminates 'cause of the sealant when running tubeless. this may have been the cause.

tubeless

onza tires

light guy 59kg

If trimmed the knobblies so they don't sctatch anymore

But the tire will be replaced soon anyway

IT did however stand deflated for a month so maybe that was the cause

I would investigate if something else is wrong. On my son's bike the wheel was always touching the frame, no matter what I did. He is quite big and strong, eventually realised the frame was badly cracked in many places. If you are sub 60 kgs you should not get any flex in the rear triangle.

On my son's new bike frame (Momson Ali), he cannot get the wheel to touch at the rear and the gaps are small.
