Kristoff The Viking punched the air and thumped his bars as he crossed the line

Firstly, the Bouhanni Train nailed him

Then Flying Fabio...

And he's running out of stages to take some glory

Well ridden Aru ....

To hold the bunch at never more than 14 sec for 12km is brilliant .

Just shows how bad some of these guys want to win .......

Loved it ... Cycling at its best .

Ja ja and Froome's enhaler and failure to pitch for doping controls.

Let's not go down this route now let's actually just enjoy and discuss what we see...[emoji39]

We have seen Bert have to ride against his rivals and his own team.. We've seen him isolated so many times... but he keeps on fighting. No crying to mommy not to many tantrums I don't think..

Quintana too is calm and collected (most of the times.). You have gotta be tough as nails physically and mentally to be a top GC Contender.

EDIT.. to be a successful cyclist

Remember Bertie on Astana with Lance and Co? He was a One-Man-Band and he shat all over everybody.

"Contador is a man from a poor family in Pinto, whose parents didn’t have enough money to buy him a bike or come and see him race. He was first spotted at 15 by Javier Fernandez (team Embajadores) who saw him putting older riders to the sword whilst riding a very heavy Orbea and his tracksuit flapping all over the place. He has been winning ever since."

Shame about the meat story, it put me off a bit but I still like him.

STAGE 4

The average speed after two hours of racing, incidentally, was 31.6kph. The block headwind means that the race is currently lagging well behind the slowest predicted schedule - which means all the more action when live television coverage starts later in the afternoon.

After 16 kilometres, our three leaders have an advantage of 3:30 over the peloton as they approach the town of Châteauneuf-de-Galaure.

Posted

Maxime Bouet (Etixx-Quick Step), Bryan Nauleau (Direct Energie) and Frederik Veuchelen (Wanty-Groupe Gobert) represent the break

Posted

As Bouet, Veuchelen and

Nauleau approach the category 4

climb of Côte de la Chapelle-de-

la-Tour, they hold a lead of 3:55

over the peloton.

The latest from CN's live coverage. 95k's to go!

BTW there is one non-starter to report, as Damien Howson (Orica-GreenEdge) has withdrawn from the Dauphine. Considering his exploits in support of Esteban Chaves at the recent Giro d'Italia, the Australian must have running on empty here.

Bouet, 82nd overall at 11:02, is the best-placed man in this move, so they ought to have no problems in getting a day pass from Tinkoff.
