Good day.

I am planning to buy a FUEL roadbike from a friend of mine, but have no idea what its worth or if it a good brand bike.I have tried all over to get some pics or reviews regarding this bike but with no luck.

Can somebody help with advice please? All I could see on the bicycle was the bike brand, "FUEL",and the word "teamline". it is very light and It is in a fantastic condition. Thank you in advance.

I had a Fuel tandem and it was a great bike light and responsive. Not sure of the pedigree of the brand but I think we get to hung up on the brand names sometimes. Stoker and I took out the Toti69er against a lot of fancy carbon rigs.

Fuel was a brand that appeared early in the 2000s and disappeared shortly thereafter. I doubt they were around for more than 2 years. That means this bike is at least 15 years old.

Most Fuels were pretty entry level and ran with Shimano Sora and other entry level parts. I'm not sure what specs this bike would have, but I'm guessing Sora.

If my assumptions about the parts and age are correct, I don't think it's a bargain. In fact it might be on the expensive side. For R2 500 you could get a slightly newer bike with a more modern integrated headset (the Fuel will have the older Quill system) and a carbon fork. The Fuel will still have an aluminium fork.

Perhaps post a picture and some specs and we can give more informed advice.

I have no knowledge of the feul bikes, but based on the info given by Longbarn Killer above on the spec I can give my 2c regarding the price.

I have a GT ZR4.0 road bike. I believe it to be a 2001 model equipped with Sora 3x8 groupset. I paid R2k for this bike in February last year.

Although the bike might be older with an entry-level groupset it should be a very good starter bike.

See if you can get you're mate to knock a few hundred of the price.

I picked up a fuel for a mate of mine a few years back, it was not a bad bike at all. Didnt have a quill stem and had a carbon fork, so I guess they werent all the same spec.
