Nino's Suspension Choice

I really like Nino and he's definitely an amazing athelete, but he's turning the Elite Men's XCO scene into a one horse race. The gaps he can open up to the other rider's is teetering on the edge of unbelievability.

Well Kulharvy did have a flat and Julian was clearly struggling during the first couple of laps..

Yup, and it's not because of his new suspension ... it's a pity it's not closer racing, but he is an amazing athlete that's for sure.

I feel the only reason it looks like Absalon is faster during the last laps is because Nino is managing the gaps. Even without the puncture Kulhavy would not have been a match for Nino, he was dropping before he had the puncture.

If Absolon hadn't had a shocker of a time from laps 2 - 5, he'd have been up there with Nino. As it was, he was catching him very quickly in the latter stages. Okay, Nino was cruising, but still.

It's probably solely down to his training regimen. Same reason Emily Batty is doing better now, same reason Danny Hart is doing better, same reason a lot of people are doing better than they were a while ago.

You can't just train on the bike anymore. There needs to be some other functional and cross training to get you to where you need to be...

XCO is very unforgiving..  a flat or a mistake can cost you valuable time. and it can happen so fast.. a few races ago it was NIno on the bad luck side with 2 flats..

When there aren't flats and bad starts the racing is pretty close actually, we've already been spoilt with a sprint finish this year.

Ja he certainly does take his time to warm up those 35 year old legs ...

Here are the lap times..

Those lap times just prove that Absalon is a slow starter, not sure if this is because of his age or whatever, and Nino can relax after he built up the gap. Even if the race was longer I'm convinced he would not have caught Nino.

Only way for Julien is to improve his starts, which I'm not sure is possible ... unless he starts training with Nino perhaps
