Gen Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 If I have to hear once more about how awesome short stages are and the TDF should change I will lose my mind![emoji6] [emoji6]
Pure Savage Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 [emoji6] [emoji6] No. Where is Myles grumpy cat?
HappyMartin Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Not just the length of the stages. It's the entire profile. Look at today's profile. Really odd. Who knows what will happen. Yesterday as well. The race is just different. Awesome.

HappyMartin Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 People just need to understand that to have firework days, you need boring days, or a blood bag... Something about cake and eating it...Hell yes. You have hit the nail on the head. Annoys me no end.
Bonus Posted September 5, 2016 Author Posted September 5, 2016 Seems you and sky are the only ones that thought they were in for a quiet day[emoji6] Again thx for the pics and roadside comments... it could never bore us..[emoji106] It seems like I can't stop now I've started but here's another funny thing . . . We checked out all of the buses we could and we saw riders chatting and smiling, posing for photos and generally doing good PR. I'm sure they were still all focused on the day ahead etc, but they were being nice. Simon Yates was warming up on a trainer with his helmet on! Other riders were chatting, warming up, talking to mechs etc. Team Sky And CF, who I obviously like & support, were polar opposites. They weren't talking to each other, let alone anyone else. The team came out of the bus one by one several mins apart and rode their bikes straight to the sign in area. Then when they came back to the bus between sign in and race start their bikes were put onto trainers and they spun to warm up. I know they take things seriously and they are "at work" but I just felt they could have done a little bit more. The only Sky rider who came close to giving a photo opportunity was David Lopez, who was asked in Spanish by a mum for a pic of him and her son. I guess the odds are high at that end of the field, but Bertie, Nairo and AV have as much to lose and they seem to find time for a smile and an autograph. Let's see what today brings . . . .
shaper Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 It was mentioned yesterday by the commentators that there was a difference in Sky who did not do any pre race interviews and how they are normally very happy to do so. Maybe there is something up in the team dynamics and words were said pre race yesterday... and perhaps is why half the team were sulking at the back of the peleton.
dev null Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Well now. Its seems NQ has misread the instructions pamphlet that came with his doepa! He thought it was gonna kick in on the 2nd week of the TdF. But it apparently only kicked in 2 months later.
'Dale Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Meanwhile...the ribbon has been cut at the start and the riders are in the neutralised section of the stage.
'Dale Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 The riders get to enjoy 5km of neutralised racing but then the flag will drop and the racing begin.
'Dale Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Today's stage includes one categorised climb: Alto Castillo de Morella, that comes mid-way through the stage after a gradual climb to 800. It is followed by a fast descent to the sea level and the coast for the finish in Pensacola.
'Dale Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 It will be fascinating to see if a break is allowed to get away and fight for victory or if the sprinters' teams will work f
'Dale Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 There are 164 riders in the peloton. Imagine if the 90 riders had been put out of the race. The peloton would be down to just 74.
'Dale Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 ⚠️⚠️⚠️ So much for a quiet ride to the coast.... We immediately have the first attack of the day.
'Dale Posted September 5, 2016 Posted September 5, 2016 Silvan Dillier (BMC), Sven Erik Bystrom (Katusha), Luis Angel Mate (Cofidis) and Julien Morice (Direct Energie) immediately jump away. They're being chased by Davide Villella (Cannondale) and Mario Costa (Lampre - Merida).
