Any tips on removing internally routed brakes?

Can I unthread the banjo side and then reuse the fittings once I get the brake house out of the frame? It's shimano slx.

Edit: Without cutting the hose and fitting a new olive + insert, compression nut and cover can't fit in the frame hole.

nope take it out of the lever and cut the part with the olive off, then just pull out and replace the olive and small metal tube and you will be good to go

Unless you've got aftermarket hoses, you'll have to cut the olive and barb off. The banjo on the OEM hose is swaged on.

15mm should be enough to miss the end of the barb. When refitting, remember to slide the rubber cover onto the hose before doing anything else...

I learned it soldering audio cables. Brake hoses are pretty tame by comparison.

In the RC game we are always soldering plugs onto batteries, the number of times i forgot the heatshrink was ridiculous.

I've still not learnt this lesson.  Every frikkin time.  Even with it literally right next to me.

At first I thought what's droo on about (drinking early in the morning perhaps?) but alas the man's vocab is clearly broader than mine ....

'shape (metal) using a swage, especially in order to reduce its cross section.'

I must have served my apprenticeship under you......  Try assembling a Reverb.  I now have a list which I force myself to tick as I go along.

Haha. The topcap on all of them (which I manage to forget occasionally) and the filter on the stealth (every flippen time).
