My current bike is the first bike ive ever had that fit me, the first carbon bike, first modern geo bike, by far the best bike ive ever had.

but you have to keep moving on, advancing, and sentiment only slows that down.

I love my bike, its also the most valuable asset i own (spent significantly more on it than i have on my car), but that doesnt mean im not saving for a new bike at the end of the year.

I still miss a 2005 RC7000 I once had, as well as a Marcello team EDGE cf roadie. But I have moved on to a newer, slimmer, sexier beast which I love riding.

Just sometimes I miss my ex's . . . (Dr. Phil moment)

Really cool knowing I'm not the only one.

My road bike is a 2007 CAAD 8 with 105 and ultegra mixed.  I've upgraded the wheelset and put a little bit of bling here and there, but otherwise it's exactly as I bought it.

It's the first half decent bike that I bought for myself. And I still think it looks cool.

I have my Colnago C40 which is my sentimental favourite. It was the bike i did all my PB's on and I can get absolutely squat for it second hand, so I just keep on riding it. I often get guys commenting in the cradle about how nice it is to see a bike like that out there. Full campy groupset which was the Shiz in the day. I dont think I would get R 10 k now. For a bike that is actually still very good.

All sorts of others have come and gone but that one has stayed....

Ignore the trolls Disy...

CAADS an incredible frame - few frames respond as well

And if it was good enough to win a couple Giro d'Italia's - it's good enough for you (and me for that matter  ;))

One of the reasons I cannot let go of my Titus racer x.

Thought of maybe getting a 650b of some type but just can't seem to do it.

You slipped up

You should have upgraded it with a Titus 29er that Gavin was flogging recently

the troll is trying to buy her a new bike, but seems she likes the ol' rusty martel-pyp.

I don't ride my GT Peace much and it's taking up space... along with my Cannondale Caad 7 Dura Ace road bike. I should probably sell both as keeping them for 2 rides a year doesn't make much sense when the cash would wipe out a nice chunk of debt... but yeah, been saying I will sell them for a while now. But no sign of that advert you'll see

I still have my old roadbike.  The plan was to sell it.  I asked my husband "what if" "Is is possible" instead of buying a 29er mtb (which would be for dirtroadie stuff because for trail I love my 26) I converted it to a cyclocross bike.  I got ''the look''  :(

My 29" does just fine on the trail  :whistling:

I suspect that as you ride more bikes you will find that that next year's bike is not necessarily better than last year's one.

Not all "advances" improve things, and very often have the opposite effect for all but a small subset of people.

Marketing departments demand one of two things: either greater specialisation for a narrow market segment which means if you are not exactly the target consumer, you are in for a disappointment; or, a design aimed at appealing  to as large a segment as possible, which means you end up with a compromise that is OK in all respects but excels in none.

Both will be built to a precise price point which implies additional compromise.

One day, if you are lucky, you will find something that is "just right" for you and you will understand the topic fully.

I hope you do for it is great when you get there. Good luck

PS. Prepare yourself for the fact that it may well be steel and cost more that a carbon frame
