Old age SS don't talk about it they just ride and enjoy #just saying  :whistling:

Oh please, enough with these cult-like tendencies. I ride a bicycle. It just so happens that it is a single speed mountain bike. I'll talk about it with fellow SS riders. Silly buggers.

I mainly commute on my SSR mtb, 20km each way and only 2 days a week with a nice mix of gravel and tar with a couple of bits of rocky singletrack. Every now and again I do a race or ride and especially when it is wet and muddy.

Love the no-frills no-fuss 'almost' no-maintenance aspect of it and as most of you have said, the simplicity of just riding your bike....felt like a kid in a candy store when I rode home in a massive thunderstorm the other day.

And I have 2 of them, one of them back in the day when 29ers were the new thing and 26ers were still cool.... I don't however need to ram it down peoples throats that I ride a SS or act like a silly bugger and get all hot under the collar as you do in your posts when someone makes a comment that does not make you poop fairy dust and rainbows because they don't go all weak at the knees about SS......

And as we are showing some on-one love... the other one :)

Perhaps more riding and less jerking off....

OK fine, point taken. Just one thing - you assume I need some sort of adulation (fairy dust and rainbows ). Assumption is the mother of all balls-ups. If you ever get to know me, you will find out that this is wholly untrue.

In any event, I thought that this, being a SS forum, would allow chit-chat with like-minded individuals. Then some dudes come in here huffing and puffing.

I suggest that we bury the hatchet, if that's OK with you and anyone else who feels the same way you do (I hope so). The last thing I intended, at least consciously, was to ram anything down anyone's throat. I am passionate about cycling, and it just happens to be that I am a SS addict.

Peace guys, see you on the trails/dirt roads/wherever.

@henning

Apologies, nothing in my post was directed at you. I didn't mean to attack your view or your thread. Someone else mentioned shouting when passing a geared bike, and hit a nerve.

Carry on with your posts and thread

Read your own words, you initial reply to my comment was on the assumption I did not ride a SS.... so take heed of your own words as I have highlighted !!

And with regard to fairy dust it is not an assumption.... it is clear from the tone of your posts that there is some sort of adulation and add that to the fact that there is sometimes vociferous condemnation of others who do not agree or perhaps have different views...

Enjoy your SS and your riding as most of us know you are fairly new to it.

I consider myself properly uitgek@k.

I say again, let's bury the hatchet. I apologize to you particularly, shaper, and in general to everyone else who I might have offended.

Hopefully I can by you a beer some day. I'm actually not the dwis you think I am.

This is me leaving with my tail between my legs.

Likewise, enjoy your riding.

Cheers.

Sometimes when I'm out riding I spin out and and find my finger searching for that "ghost shifter". I have to tell myself to chill out and relax."Enjoy the ride" I tell myself. its not about speed or KOMs etc. i like the simplicity. I prefer to be by myself when I'm SSpeeding. It's my time of relflection.

I like it a lot.
