Yeah saw that but they have very little in stock...apparently they had a special recently...I would like to get for the weekend as that is hopefully when I get my rebuilt bike back...

You know they have little stock for a fact? Why not go in store on the 26th and see first before you dismiss even looking.  If you buy online you will unlikely get it before the weekend... but from what have read of this thread you seem to have your heart set on the Sidi T3 even though it is a triathlon specific shoe

I was told by two people at Cyclelab telephonically that CL have low stock on shoes but ASG say they delivered a big order last week so yip, you have a  point I will go in person...

Sidis a very narrow shoe, check fit first. esp if been using Lakes

the GARNEA's would be my preffered choice

cheers

This is not entirely true any more. I just replaced my Ergo2's with Wire's and the wire's have a considerably wider toe box and ball area.

Not sure if this on all of the newer models, but yes Sidi's of old were narrow.

Seems the Sidi T3 is a Tri shoe? Is there any issue using them as a normal Roadie?

No not really, but here's a breakdown:

Being a Tri shoe being easy/fast too put on and take off is a priority. That's why they only have two straps and a large heel loop to aid in putting them on whilst riding. This will compromise fit/comfort slightly and power loss to a degree as well due to the fit being looser and only having two straps.

Okay long post....sorry....

I did the DMT for a year or two.  Not a very good shoe.  The one set was so uncomfortable that I had to throw them away.  Second set broke within a year.

I don't know even if someone is bringing them into RSA anymore.

Went back to Northwave.  One of the best shoes I ever owned.

They are brought in by Halabaloo.  Stock wise you should be able to go fit at Epic Cycles in Centurion

Did a couple of years in the Sidis.  Owned a set of wires and the "older" version with the click click buckle.  Very nice.

Narrow shoe so it is not that comfortable but the sole is stiff as hell and the leather/plactic upper is VERY durable and will last you very long.

I don't like the Sidi Wires' closing system as it is not as user friendly as the BOA system.

Also very pricey and the local importers, ASG, is just very bad on service and pricing.

To go fit Sidi your best bet would be Bruce Reyneke cycles in Lynnwood.  They stock.

I also own a set of S-works Sub 6 shoes.  Very Very comfy.  Pricey but the soles are stiff and the upper gives you no issues.  Lekker wide.  I just don't see them last longer than a year.

In fact, if you go google them, you'll find a couple of guys say they are good for one racing season only.

You'll get good service and a pretty decent measure up at Lynnwood cyclery.  Ask for Ruben.  Good guy and he rides well himself so he has personal experience.

My Gaernie shoes are my most priced possessions.  LOVE them.  Very much like the Sidis but with BOA system.  It just woks well.

J&J are the importers and like ASG, you won't be able to buy direct.  Hotspot stocks them and will give a you lekker discount also.  My favourite bike shop in Pta.

I am fortunate to get sponsored by a team that gave us Giro Empire shoes to ride for the year.  Very pricey.

But I can honestly say they are the MOST comfortable shoes I have ridden in 20 years.

Easton manufactures the sole and the upper is just comfy as hell.

At first I thought the shoe strings are going to be a bastard in racing but I am thoroughly impressed.  Once they are tight you won't have to fiddle with them again.  I see Spez has also started using strings.

Amazing what better control you have with stings with a more even tightening of the whole shoe.  I like them.

Omnico are the importers and you'll be able to get them at any bike shop.  I have not seen any in shops in Pta so don't know where you'll be able to go for a fitting.

All said and done, shoes are very personal.  The fit and the look.

Buy something that will be comfortable to YOU and will last.  If you spend now a lot of $$ but they last 3-5 years then the investment is worth wile.......

Good luck

Cyclelab Lynnwood stocks the Giro. Rather pricey but many people have good things to say about them.

Funny that you've never tried Fizik? I recently tried some and they were super comfortable.

Also have a look at Diadora if you can get them, saw them at Solomons.

Agree with Bonts and Spez, like the Fizik as well.

I have a similar problem-wide forefoot. Also have a pair of Lakes and they were a bit wide for me, so if you are looking for similar I would go Bont, Fizik, Spez.

Stay away from Sidi, not made for us ducks.
