Good thing then that I am a sitting judge at the PTA High Court currently, isn't it.....

Nah, just kidding.... I'm not a real judge.

But seriously, you don't ever take some personal joy in passing a person in a race? Any person? You won't take joy in passing Chris Vrooooom up a slope? Am I being judgy because I take pleasure in passing someone?

Not at all. You are being judgy because you seem to care about the costs of other peoples bikes.

You didnt say that you enjoy passing other cyclists. You said you enjoy pasing guys with more expensive bicycles than yours.

There's a difference, one is competitive, the other is judgy.

Anyway, I am off to go ride my bike (regardless of its value or type) and have fun with other cyclists (regardless of their bikes value or type).

There's a difference, one is competitive, the other is douchey.

Yes, I enjoy passing other cyclists in a race and I enjoy it even more when I pass someone on a massively more expensive bicycle. I also feel embarrassed when a laatie or oom on an old skedonk or single speed passes me up a climb. It just means I need go out there and trai n that much harder.

Sorry for being a douche, but that is where I derive my fun from.

Enjoy your ride, stay safe.

Next year I'd like to win a prize and not watch everyone else getting one...

It always amazes me that in most threads someone will post something negative about a Spaz rider with a Spaz kit and maybe compare them with a BMW driver.

If someone not riding a Specialized is being a box then he is just a box and everybody goes on with life, but please do not be a box when riding a Specialized because then you are that guy being a box because he is riding a Specialized.  Having some of their kit on will automatically make you an even bigger box.  You guys are just ridiculous!!

I have met many a box, some ride bikes, some don’t and some ride bikes that happened to be a Specialized.  Ride the bike that will make you happy and that you can hopefully afford and shut up about what other people ride.  If you are not his mom, wife or girlfriend, it should not be any of your concern what someone else does with his money.

Specialized have some awesome products and they are pretty much the only brand that is a one stop shop.

I have specialized shoes and a specialized helmet and if you tell me that any of those items from them are not good quality and very comfy then you are full of it!  They are also probably the only ones that have a pair of XC baggies with a bib where you can store your tools and stuff.  They are thinking of the whole rider experience and not just the bike and obviously they do a moer lot of marketing.

Stop hating on other brands or people and just ride your bike.  Any bike! As long as riding that bike makes you happy!

And he gets a little irate when he is riding for fun in a race and pulling along the likes of the "I Team" for pb's and then gumtree wannabe pro's pass him ... silently making comment but outwardly showing it  ;)   :whistling:

Hahaha! Ek vra hartlik omverskoning tot my bydrae. Ons ou hierdie jaar die patatfees gedoen het, maar dit het ongelukkig gebots met n paar ander reelings. Volgende jaar is ek daar met my R6000 gumtree special.

Just to clarify, I dont hate people who ride R120k bikes, any brand. I just like knowing that i spent less on my bike and still performed better, making me the better rider. I really do like specialized and will probably own one in the future. Just not now.

Apologies for said hijack.

On the topic of prizes. Maybe include some R6k bikes as prizes, that would give more of us the opportunity to ride around being judgmental and derive extra pleasure from our cycles.

Absolutely, completely understood..even more satisfying with tekkies and rubbing brakes, rigid forks etc..good point!

Exactly what I did way back being a golfer teeing off with R700 set of clubs on a single handicap against guys with R5k drivers struggling to get home under 100 shots :)

My sentiments exactly.

As a matter of fact, our other car is a BMW and my other bicycle is a Spaz, love them to death, but bought them secondhand at a fraction of the cost of a new one.

I actually know how you feel. When I walk passed people in my second-hand underwear I imagine I am really happy I can walk faster than them in their posh new jocks. :whistling:
