Veebee Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Anyone interested in a brand new set of Giant SLR 0 Carbon wheels - 30mm. R12k from my LBS with tyres, it was taken off a 2016 TCR Adv 0 https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/gear/product/slr.0.carbon.climbing.road/558/72806/
Organic Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Mavic and American classic wheels because they use catridge bearings. Shimano and fulcrum is cup and cone bearings. Apparently the Fulcrum racing 3 can be upgraded with these bearings: https://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=86983;menu=1000,4,28 Not quite sure how that works though.
Maniax Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 I have AC 420's. Light, strong, smooth rolling, and rides beautifully. I prefer them over my SL's.
Mopkop Posted September 28, 2016 Author Posted September 28, 2016 What about these? http://irwincycling.co.za/product/iaw-30/ Anyone know if they are any good? I'm also looking at wheels for around R10k. I'm keen on the American Classic 420'sThe hubs on the Irwins are excellent, from what I saw @ the expo, the 6*60 is crazy fast. I didnt know they do Allu wheels too, the hubs are the same across all the models so thats kwaai. Ill give Bryce a call in the morning
Baracuda Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 CRC has Ultegra wheels at R5000ish which look good: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/za/en/shimano-ultegra-6800-road-wheelset/rp-prod109835

Ill give Bryce a call in the morning I must admit I was pretty keen on the ceramic bearings on the Irwin's... so that puts them back in the picture... I'd all but decided on the AC's. Decisions... decisions... Let us know what you decide.

Pure Savage Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 From a good source ? I am thinking about getting them. The bike shop trying to sell them to me. *Having googled the two it seems the bike shop in Claremont (Not my LBS) may have been telling porkies.
