So, don't know much about grading

Wanna go check out that Trail Z on Sunday

Will I come out there without a sling?

Yes...the descents could be ridden by someone who's been riding a few days/weeks. The climbs...much harder but you'll be 100% :)

Yes. It's a green trail. EVERYTHING is bypassable. If you don't want air, you don't need to jump the tables. But as with all new trails, be wary. There's nothing technical, but it can get fast and you may be caught unawares. It's MTB, after all.

In terms of what it's like - think Gorge and the little section following it, and then the front of Hoogies (on the way back to the carpark)

VERY flowy.

Apparently.

hehe... good edit.

Look - if you go into it balls to the wall and don't look forwards, and just pin it without working the terrain, then yes chances are you will hurt yourself.

But if you can do the normal hoogies without issue (not talking Cobra) or the Conters blue trail, then this is a piece of cake.

You 'maniacs' don't understand the mentality of a lot of us old farts. I have taken a fair numbers of adult beginners for their first rides who are trembling so much they wouldn't do that kids section until about their third ride. And it took me about 3 months to ride Cobra without putting my feet down, admittedly at the back end of summer when it was very rough.

How old is old?  I am 50 and i agree with Thermo. Its all in the mind as everyone has been saying. in theory as you mature you should be better equipped mentally to deal with irrational fears of dying on a drop or rock garden. I have certainly found that to be the case :-)

Cool

Awesome

Give me 18% to the skies all day, even sandy

But no table tops and gap goeters

Ja, in my humble, kinda over all the dickswinging, opinion, that part on the way back to the carpark is probably one of the most dangerous bits of trail on the entire network.  Very easy to get carried awy with speed, overshoot a corner or screw up a bombhole and that's you hitting the deck at a proper pace.  That's how you get offed.  Not going down a slow and tech bit of steep or hitting a road gap.

Excellent!

I must admit

I'm keen to improve my skills

Will spend good time with U-toob and some tech sections this December after a few roadie races ????????????

Ya, spot on - that bermed highway is great fun but with wind assist can be overcooked...

41. And I really do understand your point, but no matter how many lessons I go to or how hyper-rational I am day to day, I don't have that pushing the limit gene in terms of danger. Pain I can do, effort I can do. And having had the month flat on my back last Dec after what was an seemingly innocuous, but horrible, incident, I just don't want a repeat.

VERY true.

That's exactly true.

Technical does NOT mean dangerous (not necessarily anyway).

Often the most dodgey parts can be on far less technical sections.
