Firstly i'm a noob to the Hub and have thoroughly enjoyed the banter as well as the very informative threads.........keeping me out of work!!

I would appreciate some advice regarding a bike setup, iv'e enquired at two bike shops with varying results:

1) Cycloworx Petervale - R140 (basic not computerised)

2) Cycle Lab Fourways - R600 ( not sure on their technology)

Big price difference, is the one better than the other??

Please advise,

Thanks in advance.

haha, you mis understood. He asked what kind of mountain biking. I think the easier question for you would be. What bike do you have?

Further to this..... a racing setup will differ from a setup for longer more casual trail rides or for steep technical downhill terrain. So you need to be clear about what you want from the bike fit session. Also be sure to tell them if you have any past injuries or health issues that could affect your comfort on a bike.

You should also expect that in addition to the fee, they may propose different stems, bars, spacers, saddle and seatpost to 'optimise' the fit if existing components do not offer sufficient range of adjustment. These extra bits are not included in the price of the fit .

Go to Richard Baxter at Dunkeld cycles. bit more expensive, R700, but DEF worth it.

A full set up takes about 3hr and it starts from your cleats and goes throw your whole bike.

R600.00 is a good price compered to how much i paid in CPT. well worth it for a full set up

He was, he use to run the North riding branch.

They've now closed the Parkhood branch, and he moved on, now based/working for Dunkeld cycles.
