Ja I agree but Q was also more than happy to make the pace..even using Amador to the max.I think Q initial was thinking about waiting but there is no such thing as sort of waiting..you sit up until he is back or race.

It was clear that TD was coming back and when he got close to a minute they really pushed the pace.Q even flicking the elbow to make sure the pace stay high.

They both went for it full on and TD put up a great fight. No respect for either of them..from me.Hopefully they also don't try and come up with excuses..They must own it.You want to take time like that come out and say it like it is..

I really hope TD smash them big time now.

Yah, I agree, and Nibali has a history of taking advantage of incidents like this, he did it last year to Kruijswijk and now to Tom this year, Quintana also pushed on, there's no honour amongst thieves.

Tom is in great form, he would never have cracked today and would have held his time gap, very unfortunate to lose like that.

I bet that Nibs and Landa agreed that Landa would take the win, else why would Landa start pulling from 5km out. He could have just sat on Nibs wheel.

Me thinks Nibs pulled one over on Landa.

Yah, I actually thought the same, Nibali was also wanting time so Landa could have just sat on, it didn't make sense for him to do all the work, plus Landa never let up, there was no cat and mouse which one would expect in a fair race.

Nibali confirmed today that he is "the Snake of Messina" and not the Shark.

I am not 100% sure about Quintana.... He was in a difficult situation today....

Tom, on the other hand, is a genuine class act... I really hope he can pull this one off.

Pretty sure it was Zakarin who initially pushed hard when Tummy took his dump. Bahrain and Movistar then looked at each other probably waiting for one of them to call the shots and sit up. For me personally, I think Quintana should've done that given the help he got the other day due to his poor handling.

I'm still amazed at Quintana. The man is supposed to be a pure climber you'd think he'd relish those mountains but yet again, he plays it safe. Either he's very defensive or he doesn't have the legs and for me it's the former. It's like he's too scared to just go for it. I don't think he maximized this opportunity given that Dumoulin took 90sec for his dump. There's not much that he's actually lost out then.

"I would have liked to take five minutes, but the reality is that, the will and the power sometimes are not the same,” he said. “We are satisfied with what we have done today.”

About waiting for the race leader ⚠️⚠️⚠️

'From live television pictures and post-race interviews, there was no indication as to whether Dumoulin had notified Quintana or Nibali of his situation before he pulled over — or how long it took that information to make it to the GC group.

What is also unclear is which riders, specifically, Dumoulin should direct his anger towards. Zakarin was first to attack, while Franco Pellizotti (Bahrain-Merida) set tempo. Nibali’s attack with 22km remaining forced others to respond, and further widened the gap back to the maglia rosa.'

'How about they adopt MTB etiquette - 'You're on your own'

Problem solved. Got mechanical? Too bad, it reflects even more poorly on manufacturers and presses them to deliver. Got the chocolate squirts? Too bad, you ate the wrong foods. Crashed? Too bad, you should've been riding at the front of the group. Etc.'
