Come I ask you this.

Is racing in PPA C the same as racing in PPA A?

Or even B vs A?

In PPA its not racing, its a spirited group ride

To be fair, a certain group from E also beat a lot A that day :D

Haha this is true....at a few other funrides too

Most crashes happen because of fatigue leading to poor judgement, laced with limited experience and influenced by poor situational awareness, as a result of limited bike and handling skills

None of these are tested during a hill climb

As Pure Savage expressed, seems that the seeding process is improving ????????????????

I'm way to heavy to even think I can improve seeding on hill climbs (90kg and heavy bike) .. I can pull the bunch for most of the day though ..... until we hit a hill of course

So it really for small % of lightweight weight weenies so bit unfair.

I'm with you... my legs see this hills before I do

Again I ask, how often have you ridden in groups? The more you ride in a group the better you get at not causing accidents and also at anticipating what people around you are doing & going to do - there is  more to group riding than just being strong enough to keep up. Call me selfish but when I'm going 60km/h+ on a dangerous downhill I prefer to be in close proximity of people who have done it in groups before.

I Ride in groups every week, sometimes 2ice ..sometimes even 3 times a week

when I go 60 + ,I don't care if you are Segan... I go alone

I get what you are saying, but unfortunately cant see how this is relevant to(Topic) improving seeding by doing a hill climb, as a matter of fact, they should give you a extra  points as you will need to come down the hill eventually

Riding your weekly coffee ride with a group and holding your line in the constant ebb and flow of a racing bunch are two very different things. You earn your stripes, plain and simple.

Stricker,

What's your interest in this discussion since you started it?

It'll help me to appreciate your agenda or objective for raising this top

1- Make my day go faster

2- And I think that the pros for this event was actually more then cons , hence the reason I asked for valid reasons why its such a bad thing in everyone's eyes

Fair enough ..so how do you earn them?

Only experienced riders are critical and questions the seeding boost that comes with the PPA hill challenge.

They must've seen some tough things out there on the roads over the seasons. ????

Not everybody believes it's a bad thing hey

No, its a bit slower, but you learn the ins and outs of group riding in B-F...

So how long do you think it takes to learn this.

Do you( or any1) know of someone that never did a race before in their life, that decided to do hill climb , get a A seeding and actually went racing in A?... then lasted more them 30min in that race?

Do anyone know of this person?

I would say that 90% of the guys that actually got a A seeding from a HC..do actually have racing experience.

I know someone who got an A from the hillclimb and only lasted 18 minutes because he grabbed a whole bunch of brakes on a roller and took out two riders and punctured.

It depends on the level of racing experience we are talking about

Oxygen is thin while sipping tea in the A bunch ????????????

the ppa fund ride is an artificial race - seeding was introduced many years ago because the massed start (like in running) just did not work. we were first seeded according to finishing position in the funride , then timing came along and made it a bit more complicated. now we have as many races as we have seeded groups and everyone wants to go faster - which is not a bad thing. but the ethos of a cycle race is to get over the finishing line first - the time it takes should not count.

regarding the HC - i know a club member who started cycling a year ago and is now a B ppa seeded rider but still refuses/scared to sit in the middle of our bunch during our club training rides. his only aim is to become a A seeded rider.
