The key factor is components, the better the components the longer they will last. The longer they last the less money you would have to spend to keep your bike going. Just my 2 cents. Good luck

Good luckThanks for all the advice am going to give this baby boy a chance and see what he has to offer, i guess it's my first time expirience so need to take the chance and see.
Hairy Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 It might be worth yOre while to take the bike to a bicycle shop when sportsman hand it over to you. Get the bicycle shop to just check out the bike and make sure it is assembled properly. Seen a couple of bikes built by then that are not very safe to ride.

Reinhardt89 Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 Yes am from rustenburg area and my budget is 5k.All i know is am later going to fall inlove with cycling, so let me put it this way Budget is 5k and which entry level bicycle can i get that will atleast last me a few years?You can get a very decent bike on gumtree or the bikehub classifieds section with that budget.I bought a Giant Talon 1 2012 29er for R4900 last year.

arendoog Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Bruce,s cycles in Pta are selling some very decent commuter bikes .There is a SS and one with 3 gears .Thick bombproof tires .These are the bikes that the dutch use every day for commuting Almost no maintenance

Hairy Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 awesome thsnks but how much will they charge me for that?can't honestly answer that ... they would be spending an hour to half an hour just checking bolts, gears, etc .... so it would be an hourly rate I recon. give a LBS near to you a call and ask them ..... it will save you money and frustration going forwards.
